You can use the splitter if you want but you will have to watch the same program that's on the receiver's channel.
The best way to go is get an additional receiver.

Simply you need a box for satellite TV at all, for two reasons. 1. A TV cannot tune a satellite TV signal at all, at least most TVs out there. There were a few TV models made with DirecTV, that is it. There is no "analog cable" on satellite. It is all digital, and all encrypted (for pay services such as Dishnetwork and DirecTV). 2. A TV cannot decrypt the provider's encrypted channels. You need the provider's box and card to do that.

I think yes if you are talking about a second TV connected to a TV with a box. You would have to be watching the same channel.

You could watch TV on the one without the box, however it would only be regular TV. If you want to watch on different channels on more than one TV you have to have more than one box.

are you talking about watching local channels? yes you can. If you have a tv antenna just turn off your reciever and it allows you to watch your locals. make sure you have your antenna cable hooked to your tv
