My husband is seeking God's will for his life. What advice, based on the Bible, can you give him and scripture to read regarding this? This may include prayer, fasting, worship, etc., but I need Bible scripture references, please.

Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.
Matthew 21:22 And whatsoever you ask in prayer, believing you shall receive.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me.
Habbakkuk 2:2 Write the vision and make it plain. Write it upon tablets so that a herald (AN ANGEL) may read it and run with it. Though it tarry, wait for it...
These have gotten me to the blessed life I live where I see my dreams come true on a regular basis. Also, fasting is so key and by God's law it just works. HE MUST FIRST have the LORD'S permission to fast or else the fast won't be consecrated. Start slow. I used to fast four days and rest then fast four days. I truly could hear the LORD's direction better and my body and soul and spirit were blessed by it. There is an awesome fasting website, I have forgotten what is was so I encourage you to seek google and find a good one, this one is OK http://www.billbright.com/7steps/final.html. There is a lot in books, too. But above all in the morning when beginning a fast, he must always ask the lord to sanctify the fast and to sustain his body and to speak to his spirit. Crucify his flesh and be humble minded. Awesome things are about to happen for you all!!
Blessings~

It takes a lot of time and effort, but it is worth it to find God.
Proverbs 2:1-5

The first step in coming to know God's will is learning his personal name.

First, 2 Tim. 3:16-17, then remember that we are given the 'two or more witnesses' principle (I have copied and pasted it here from elsewhere), then let him read the Bible as he chooses.
this?
There are two 'old testaments. The man-made old testament of Genesis-Malachi, or the scriptural old testament; i.e. the law of Moses. The Jews were told to have two or more witnesses (about three times Deut. 10-20), and the Christians were given the same command (Matt. 18:16, 2 Cor. 13:1). When this concept is applied, one finds the 'old testament' is the law of Moses; 'two or more witnesses' include Joshua, David, Solomon, Nehemiah, Daniel, Malachi, Jesus, God the Father, and the apostle Paul. (The law is referred to as the old testament (KJV) in 2 Cor. 3:13-14).

Actually "God's will" is throughout the bible. Sometimes the most difficult thing to do is just follow what Jesus teaches. The most obvious example? The beatitudes..the Sermon on the Mount. The bible states, what does God ask of us? Do do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly before our God.

His will is that we are forgiving, loving, merciful, just, kind, giving, selfless. From the time we get up in the morning until the time we go to bed at night, we are to serve others, in the Lord's name, and for His glory. To not be weary in well doing. This is His will.

God may give your husband direction to go here or do that...but in the interim, living the life that He asks of us is His will. Also, look at 2nd Peter, the first few verses. It reminds us that we always need to be acting out of love, kindness, mercy....so that we will never be ineffectual in our service to the Lord.

This is an easy question to answer generally but hard to make specific.
God's will for us is to obey the Bible. Not to be a know it all but I think you have it backwards - like most of us.
The standard of a Christian life should be to study the Bible and seek His face. Not to stop and get some Bible in our tank and then zip on about our lives. The will of God is to seek him and not just his marching orders.
Good luck and God bless.
If there is something specific, email me.

"Focus on the gifts and talents that God has given us. Ask the Lord to reveal what His "good, pleasing and perfect will" for you life looks like..."
Romans 12:2:
2 Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

It's been my experience that we must do whatever glorifies God/Jesus and his Kingdom.

I would have never known that what I'm doing today was my purpose...I still don't know if it's my purpose. I think He is prepairing me for something else...

I've prayed about where He wants me...and now I'm using my talents He has given me to share His word...

We must allow His light to shine through us. Allowing our walk of faith to be megaphone. Truly, our walk will speak volumes over what we say.

I love the ministry I'm currently involved in...and had you told me, I would be doing this (jail ministry) five or even three years ago...I would have said, uh...yeah...NO, I don't think so.

I've allow the Lord to lead my path...as He does today. It's not one thing...it's everything. I'm not just a woman that prays, I am a prayful woman.

I promise...you will know it's God's/Jesus will when you are glorifying Him and His Kingdom. (Want to know more...IM me).

Grace to you and yours...God Bless

I would tell him to do what I did and read the bible from front to back, without going to others for answers. Reading just certain scriptures is just not enough. You have to read the whole thing in context.

THe way I found out was to try differend things in church. In the end I seemed to be good in explaining the word of God to people. So I got "stuck" in being a sundayshool teacher. It just showed by trying out things and praying God will use you.

The way of discovering what God wants you to do is as exciting as finding it. Every time I explain ppl stuff I get all excited and happy.
Before I ever became a teacher, people already came to me with questions.more and more with time passing. So it just shows I guess if your willing to do what God wants you to do instead of making your own career plans in church :).

seek first through his inner self. in my experience nobody can really understand the bible just by reading it. it only makes you feel good when you understood one story which reflects your present or previous story in life, but doesn't actually mean anything, people feel good or something when they read their stories in the bible. it's just plain human instinct ego.
your husband is seeking god because he experiencing feelings of loss, he may find comfort in reading but will not mean anything if he's not sincere. my advice is simply seek and you'l find. . .
