Rosacea is a chronic skin disease that is identified by reddish patches. Although alcohol may not cause Rosacea, it can precipitate flair-ups. That is what you are often seeing on the nose of an alcoholic.

Alcohol use and abuse affects many organs in the body. On the skin, alcohol causes dilation of surface capillaries (tiny blood vessels), resulting in facial flushing and a pinkish-red hue to the cheeks. With chronic use of alcohol, the face and nose will sustain flushing and appear red.

The way I understand it is that long term excessive drinking causes blood pressure problems and a side effect is that the blood vessels in the nose show this more than other parts of the body.

Heavy drinking causes the capillaries in the extremities to burst and the blood can leak into the surrounding tissue, making the skin look red and swollen. Alcohol is one of the most harmful drugs if it is abused. It can affect virtually all the tissues in the body.

You really need to read "Rosacea Free Forever" by Laura Taylor (also available in electronic format here: http://www.rosaceafreeforever.info ). It's about how to permanently cure your Rosacea naturally. I cured my Rosacea permanently in only 4 days after reading this.
Stop paying paying each month good money on creams. This is exactly what the pharmaceutical industry wants you to do! They want to milk money from you each month.
