I don't think there is any set length of time. It depends on a few factors - one is when you want to have your wedding. If you get engaged in January and want to get married in June, you can take six months, 18 months, etc. The other factor is how much time you want to have planning your wedding.

I have a huge family and I wanted to have a wedding big enough for them all to come...so I took two years to ensure that I wouldn't be stressed out or rushed - and it was so worth it. If you want a small, simple ceremony you could probably get it done in a couple of months.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful with a number but one of my best friends had a 2 week engagement, and another girl I know had a 5 year engagement so I don't really think there is a set amount of time. Good luck!

There really is no regular, but if you get engaged it should be because you want to get married soon, other wise whats the point of getting engaged in the first place. I know from first hand experience that it takes no longer than 6 months to plan a great wedding. I was engaged for almost a year, and we had 300 people at our wedding. By six months I was done and bored out of my mind waiting for our wedding to get here. I would recommend only taking as long as you need to get things planned. Good luck and Congratulations!

Most couples are engaged for about one year. Most people think that it takes that long to plan a wedding. However, a wedding can be planned in as little as two months. The thing that holds most people up is finding the right venue to hold the reception. Popular reception places are often booked out a year in advance, which leads to year-long engagements. My advice is to look into reception venues first, see what dates they have open, then plan from there.

its good to be engaged for about a year. It gives you lots of time to pick a date, a place to get married, and everything that goes along with it. Also, it gives you a chance to merge together a little more easily.

I think that really depends on you. Are you going to have a large wedding or a small one or are you going to go to a JP. Engagements take this factor into consideration so that you have the apropriate time to plan for your wedding.
