yes each person is allowed one copy of their personal credit report per year under the new irs rules.

Yes, you are both eligible for one free report from all 3 of the agencies, total of 6 for the two people together. I used www.annualcreditreport.com. The other ones like freecreditreport.com will get it for free of charge BUT you have to sign up for the free trial of some darn thing they're selling..monitoring I think, but you have to give them a CC # and worry about canceling on time.

Yes, thanks to FACTA each SSN in the US is allotted access to one free credit report. But sadly enough the same law states if you don't dispute something within 60 days it becomes part of your permanent record. For this and a few other things those snappy commercials aren't telling you visit my "Your identity... " blog on my 360 page. You might find some startling information...
Also some states have given you access to multiple reports a year. There are some useful links on the blog as well...

Yes every social security number has one free report each year from all three bureaus, you can check all three at once or one every three months, most have the same info. But if you have things to dispute i would make sure they all are correct.
