I prayed to God to give me as answer, and he spoke to my heart to open his word to a random passage. So I obeyed that still small voice, and this is the scripture that God showed me:
If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him. Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you. You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst. (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB)
I am perplexed, but I know we must obey the word of God.

If you're open to religious disscussions, why not ask your brother to sit down with you to share your religious beliefs and you listen to his. If not, politly ask him to stop. You certainly don't have to kill someone!!
I myself am not a Christian, so I deal with the opposite - people trying to convert me back to Christianity - of this alot. But I always enjoy learning about people & their beliefs.
Old Testiment is some serious stuff, plus the Bible in general is full of conflicting sayings: "An eye for an eye", "Turn the other cheek". If you're still confused that killing another human being is wrong (not to mention against the law), I highly recommend talking with your pastor/priest.

All gods are false and all religion is a con. Wake up and think. God is the end result of a failed search for truth by a very shallow mind, provided that any search was made at all instead of swallowing the pile of delusional bilge that was spoon fed to you as a child. You and your brother are delusional superstitionists, both pathetic.

The law does only apply in a certain country, for a certain people in a certasin time. Paul says that time is over.Futhermore you are not a jew living in israel (even if you are, you still are out of that law time)
But the moral implications still count. Dont listen and reject it by using the word of God.

When Jeshua was on the cross, some onlookers said to him: " Behold thy mother and thy brethren." Jeshua's reply: "My brethren are those who do the will of my father." That is why we must be born again or transformed. If you got such a powerful witness from the Lord, why are you asking people on a secular website? You obviously need spiritual maturity and the devil knows that too, that is why he has your brother swaying you, instead of the other way around. You need one week of www.tbn.org and you need to buy your brother this book: www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ tg/detail/-/1412043190.

turn to you spirit. Wake up early, First thing to do before you do anything is contact Him. Call on His name "O, Lord Jesus" couples time with your pure heart. Shouting if possible, it will help realise you spirit. Start fellowshiping with Him, Thank the Lord for another day that you may live Christ and give your whole day to Him, by reject yourself and not to trust in your self but Christ, take Jesus as your everything and tell all the problem to Him. Tell Him that you need Him, you cannot resolve the problem by your self, let Him defeat the enemey.

Yeah - you're not living in the times of Moses. I'm guessing that if you kill your brother, not only have you disobeyed one of the 10 commandments, but the law of the land in 2006 will come after you too.
Don't use scripture to try to justify murder. Just say no.

I think it would be awesome for you to kill your brother. After all, it is in the Bible, so you must not disobey it. Go kill him right now. And then when the cops come and take you away, I'll be listening on the news, laughing, and be glad that one more Christian nutcase is gone from Yahoo! Answers.

Um.... isnt there somethng about thou shalt not kill? or okay heres another one, obey the laws of the land. Oh and the one about do unto others. Okay do we have a clear picture? Im pretty sure that if you have that close of a relationship to your god, then you could probably ask him outright. say " hey god. Um, Im thinkin about stoning my brother to death because hes tryin to turn me on to something I dont believe in. Im pretty sure you said some stuff about not killing so Im hoping youll get back to me if I really should. thanks man." If he doesnt get back to you in three days then tell your brother you love him and that you dont appreciate his efforts, and please stop. mellow out with the violent thoughts dude.

so, you're saying that your brother is enticing you "secretly" to serve other gods? you used to live in egypt as a slave? and your actions will be a message to "all Israel" now? or you expect that "the rest of the people" will join in?
think about THOSE parts of the message. if the message is true, then, ALL of it is true. if any part of it is false, then ALL of it is false.

Politely say no. The Bible isn't the literal truth. Times have changed from primative and ancient to modern and civilized. Look at religions that don't change with the times, for instance: _____ (fill in the blank).
