We are able to file our tax's online, register our children for school online and etc. So why can't we vote online? We would have a larger amount of people going through the process. Lets face it. After work, taking care of the kids and everything else that distract us in our daily lives its really hard to stand in long lines. Especially when you are worried about whats next on the agenda after you've been there for hours. There has to be a better way. So how do we do it. Somebody please ... what is the solution?

I'm not sure that there is a way. Ireland has tried to do that but failed miserably. It was found that the on line voting lacked security. So now, we are spending over half a million euros each year on storing the pc's. All the top heads (supposedly) are trying to fix this. Whether it will work is yet to be seen. I'd save yourself some tax dollars and wait and see what happens.

Voting on line would not be a good idea at all.
Don't you remember when there was all that crap about counting the votes when Gore ran against Bush and the votes that had been counted more then once?
Nope, there's to much fowl play going on already when the votes are counted without voting on line.
Imagine what the out come would be now if on line voting where allowed. No thank you, as it turned out with the crap that went on with the computed results then and having to live with the "out come" as it was and not being able to do a damn thing about it and not being able to "see" the true results really were. We "had" to live with it ever since so I vote for no voting on line ever unless we are all willing to live with the results being what we rather they not be.
NOPE!!!!

I can imagine the voter fraud if that happens. We would have people in Iran trying to elect american presidents.

No!!!! And we should do more to stop the current voting fraud we have now. We have dead people voting, in case you didnt know. We have illegals voting. We have ex cons voting.

Online voting would open a can of worms like you wouldnt believe. Sure you can do ur taxes online, but that is different. The IRS is already plugged into us.

The reason why it is not online or even mainstream electronic is because it would make it a lot easier to cast phony votes if they were 100% electronic with solid paper ballots we can do a physical count plus if there is fraud with regualr ballots you need to have access to the ballot counters and ballot boxes if it was electronic you would just have to be a good hacker.

Plus, I am not trying to be mean but you can register to vote by mail and just mail it in at your leisure. That is what I do and I love it.

Because people should have to put in a little effort in order to vote. Register, get out of your car, wait in line, and vote. If you can't handle that, you don't deserve to vote.

Plus, online or phone voting would be VERY difficult to verify identity and frequency of votes.

I think that it's only a matter of time before we're all voting on-line. Until then we have a few kinks to work out as the potential for abuse is currently too high.

I don't think this will ever happen, theres too many people out there that are too good at hacking for it to be a "fair" vote. If they can't even keep the DoD networks secure, how well do you think your home PC will fare?

I'm all for it. It's about as honest as regular voting, which can be currupted at the drop of a hat. Online it would be monitored better than it is now.

That would make vote fraud even easier than it already is.

After all, no one cares about filing for taxes for someone else, and school registrations aren't largel security risks.

Technology and security are not the real issues. Until 90%+ trust the technolgy and security, it won't happen. If they did, the technology is as secure as it will ever be. No system is 100% secure.
