You must have a CCTV warning sign displayed at the entrance to your house, and they would have to sign a waiver if it were made public. If there was no sign it would not be admittable in court, and would be illegal in the circumstanace it was hidden. if their was no waiver the tape could be played but the persons face would have to be masked and any identifiying comments, if sound is available, would have to be removed.

As long as no-one complains you shouldn't have a problem, simply put.

Yes, completely illegal.

However, if you have clearly marked 'CCTV recording' signs at appropriate positions, you can freely record them for your own personal use or crime prevention

To broadcast, or even display it publicaly you MUST have the individual's permission under the Data protection act.

In the UK it's very illegal and breaking four different laws. You could leave yourself very open to being sued if you keep the recording without their knowledge if you are not registered with the Data Protection Registrar also.
