I bought strawberries and 2 days later they were moldy. I did not rinse them.

In a plastic container, place a row of unwashed strawberries, then place paper towels over them, another layer of strawberries then more paper towels. The paper towels absorbs all the moisture. It really works, I was amazed how long they lasted.

Rinse and dry them, removing the stem. This removes the bacteria from the skin and stops the ripening process. Then sprinkle them with either sugar or lemon juice.

It also helps a little if you wash them when you get home and dry them, then put them in a brown paper bag in the refrigerator. That slows the growth of that horrid fuzzy mold that likes to grow on them.

Wash them and then refridgerate them in an air-tight container. Also, try freezing some in a freezer ziplock bag. Or you can always eat them right away. I know a great recipe for strawberry smoothies if your interested.

Rinse them in cold water and immediately put them in a zip lock bag. Should stay fresh for up to 1 week...good luck!
