do you live in the city or the country? Obviously, people don't understand that alot of people in the country don't get trash service. If you live in the country I would definitely go ahead and burn plastic and styrofoam. the dump pile will get big enough without adding things that'll burn! If you live in the city and trash service isn't a problem for you, then yea, go ahead and put the styro and plastic in a regular trash can

Yes, Styrofoam is a plastic, and all plastics give off vapors and gases that are harmful to your health. Also who's to say it won't kill you or someone else. And finally you may want to check your local health and/or fire departments to find out what your local guidelines are for burning trash
