My cat lived to be 19, which is not the oldest in record, but the oldest that I've known personally.

My friend's cat was 23 years old and died just a couple of years ago. My cat was 17 years old when it died. But 23 is the oldest I've ever heard of.

I've heard of cats living to be over 20, but My cat is 15.

My cat is a Persian and he is 17 years old. He has used up so many lives. He only has one eye and he was shot with a b.b. gun and was missing from my house for 8 months at one time. He has had seizures and heart attacks. But, Hes very very loving and friendly just wants to be held and loved on... so, good luck to you and your cat. I have enjoied mine for many years and will for many more.

I've heard of a cat that lived to the age of 27 but am not sure if that was a real story.

My neigbor bought a kitten 25 years ago. It's still alive, despite the fact that all it's hair is gone, it's senses are shot and it has no claws. Shes going to euthanise it sometime this year, poor thing:(
I think it was a strictly indoor American Shorthair Torbie.

Recently, in Japan, I met a cat that was 21 years old. He looked pretty good too.
