If you do, here is a video that explains it and how it compares to the Bible. It is the best thing I have seen in a long time.

To BigScotter:
Good question, and I hope I or the video can help. This contradiction is one more sign that the Book of Mormon should be tested and researched for truth instead of "believing in one's heart". Anyways, You are right, it should have been in American English of that time. A sign of accuracy in any text is the writer's consistency with culture and linguistics. Unless Smith just really liked to write in old-english, there is no reason for someone to choose that style, unless they were copying something from the Bible and thought it would make it sound reliable. Good question and the video will help more. email me if you have any other questions.

Just to clear things up people, I am not a Mormon. Just a loving Christian trying to help people out. Funny how people jump to conclusions.
Keep the questions coming though:)

Another good question. The reason they didn't leave them behind is because they didn't exist. The Book of Mormon is completely wrong archeologically, historically, and in reference to geography. It has all the wrong plants, all the wrong languages, all the wrong places, all the wrong technologies, and all the wrong people. The Bible on the other hand (which Mormons claim is wrong) is probably the most trusted and tested and researched source worldwide, and it has never been disproven. The video will explain this much better than I can.

Thanks for you concern. I am not a hater haha, I promise. My motivation is out of Love, and I hope you can understand that. Christians have a responsiblity not only to help people understand their faith, but also to help people understand truth and if people have been decieved by something (especially something that claims to be Christian) then it is our responsibility to guide them back to truth. The Bible says to test everything, and to seek truth through the Bible ALONE. Mormons claim that the Bible is outdated, and is wrong unless it is translated properly (by a Mormon). Their current prophet even claims that the Jesus of Mormonism is not the Jesus of the Bible, he can be quoted saying that. There is HUGE contrast and difference in the two books. I just want people to know truth, out of Love for their souls, thats all:)

To Captain Amazing 62:
Thanks for defending me, but let me clear some things up. I am not mormon, and I am not bashing mormons. It is out of my love for the Mormons that I present this information. And, no you are wrong the Bible does not tell us to be tolerant of other peoples beliefs. There are not many paths to God, there is ONE path, Jesus Christ. There are not many sources of truth, there is ONE source, the Bible. Yes we are called to love everyone, but we are not called to stand back and watch them wander helplesslessly in false truth. If you saw someone burning in a house on fire would you not run to rescue them? You would, and quickly. Christians know that there is an end to this life and a real Heaven and a Hell. We are rushing to save people the best we know how, from eternal fire. Let me know if you have any other questions by email.

To princezelph and Melissa:
Thanks for your responses and you are entitled to feel the way you do. I'm still a little confused why you claim I am bashing other religions. I am simply helping people to find information that will help them make an informed decision. If you read Paul's writing in 2 Corinthians chapter 10-11, he cleary states his authority to point out false things in other religions. He speaks of false apostles and false religions and teaches other Christians how to deal with it. I'm just trying to follow his example. Paul speaks of the punishment that such false apostles will recieve in 2 Cor. 11:15. Now, would you all consider Paul a religion basher and people hater? No probably not. Mormons blatantly disobey many commands of the Bible claiming that they are invalid or don't apply to them. But how arrogant to assume that you can make up your own book and culture and rules, with no evidence, that decieves so many? I don't understand.

The Bible says "but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Keep away from every kind of evil." 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22
1 Timothy 4:1 says "Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from what we believe; they will follow lying spirits and teachings that come from demons."
He continues in verse 4:6 "If you explain this to the brothers and sisters, you will be doing your duty as a worthy servant of Christ Jesus, one who is fed by the message of faith and the TRUE teaching you have followed."
Paul also warns in 2 Corinthians 11 that some will be led away. 11:12-14 says "But I will continue doing this to cut the ground out from under the feet of those who boast like their work is just like ours. The people are false apostles. The have fooled you by disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. But I am not suprised! Even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light."
I am only testing, and trying to do my duty

More for Melissa:
Okay by commands in my comment I meant to test all things. Also to beware of false prophets that will lead people away from the truth. The Bible says that it, and it alone is sufficient for salvation and everyday use. It firmly tells its readers that no other text should be added to the scriptures. I'm sure you've heard this argument but how can you with common sense get around it? Besides forcing the believer to pray and hope that it will feel true, you offer no shred of proof to back anything that happened in the book of mormon. The Bible does not demand that of its readers. The Bible says that faith in Jesus Christ alone will save us, because we have all broken every single one of the commandments! In some form Not faith in another book, or Joseph Smith, or a pursuit of perfection, but Jesus Christ's blood alone. Mormons look past all the warnings of the Bible, and believe something completely different. Why do the warnings not apply to you?

To clear up what I just said, the Book of Mormon requires that believers forget all logic, all common sense, all brains that God has given them, and to trust their hearts with a prayer that it will sound true. Now, if I throw my common sense aside I can pray that all my student loan debt doesn't exist. And it may seem that way if I surround myself by a bunch of people who say i'm debt free. But once I look at the paperwork, records and history, my common sense proves to me that I'm on debt still.
How does this apply? The Bible and everything it besides spiritual stuff is easily proved by the world's standards. If everything else is legitimate, then it gives the spiritual stuff credibility. Then all that is required is believe in Jesus Christ as savior, and repentance and so on. My main problem with Mormonism, it arrogantly requires a person to believe in something that has ZERO credibililty if you actually research it, honeslty. That saddens me, and is the reason I posted.

To plastik:
I'm sorry but we're gonna have to agree to disagree. The Bible has taught me to reject what the Mormons have done with their false teachings and additional scriptures and such. I believe the Bible when it talks about Satan decieving people and masking himself as an angel of light. Mormons can come up with as much "plausible" evidence and theories to explain Joseph Smith's stories, but the Bible is overwhelmingly PROVABLE, not just plausible. I'm sticking with the Bible and what its taught. The Bible is sufficient for salvation, and we only need Christ to safe us from our imperfections. I do not need anything extra, or a false extra prophet like Joseph Smith to establish some priesthood. Jesus was the last and almighty priest. There is only ONE testament of Jesus Christ, the one in the Bible. I do not doubt my salvation, and there is no way on Earth that a mormon could tell me that I'm not saved because I don't believe their lies.
Thanks

Thanks Thomas; I think everyone should be aware of how the Mormons have perverted the Word of God, and have removed essential doctrines about the Divinity of Jesus Christ.

I have an idea, if someone wants to know about the Book of Mormon, they could read it for themselves. Wow, what an idea! Do people not have anything better to do than bash other's religions and spread lies about it? Mormons absolutely believe in the Bible so anyone who says otherwise is lying. Did you know that The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints is the one of the fastest growing churches in the world. My only point being that there is something that draws people to the church. Talk to recent converts and ask them why they joined, instead of listning to people who have no idea what they are talking about. True Christians do not go around judging others. Jesus Christ did not set that kind of example.
* I would like to know which commandments you claim I disobey. Mu husband is Methodist and he and I follow the same commandments. I have never heard any LDS members say that certain commandments dont apply to them.
** You still haven't told me which commandments I dont follow

Why is it so important to you to prove some one else's faith wrong? Really, what's the motivation? Wouldn't your energy be better spent trying to show that your particular faith is right? I mean if they accept your faith as absolutely right, then any other religion wouldn't matter, right?
Did you know that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints also believe the bible to be the word of God? (I really don't get this whole Versus thing).
Did you ever read the Book of Mormon for yourself with anything remotely close to an open mind?
Those are my honest sincere questions. I just don't get the whole anti, hatred towards another religion thing, and I thought maybe you could help me understand.

You said that The Bible (which Mormons claim is wrong).
That is SO NOT TRUE! We believe in the Bible as far as it is translated correctly!
And why do the Native Americans speak of a Great White God that came and visited and will come again?!

Yes, and this is a sincere question-
The Bible that we quote and know today is called the King James edition. It was translated in the 1300's in England, hence the thee's and thou's and all that 13th century England speak. The book of Mormon was giving to Joseph Smith in America in the 1800's, right? Why is it written in the 13th century "style" of writing with the - thou shall do this and the thee shall know. Why isn't it in 18th century American English?
This is a real question, I would like to know.

A few quick questions. Would you seek to learn Christianity from an anti-Christian. Would you try to learn evolution from an anti-evolutionist. Would you seek to learn about Creation from an anti Creationist.
Last question:
Would you seek to learn about Mormons from Anti-Mormons.
If you want answers, seek them from the source. This anti Mormonism is propaganda from people who really do not seem to have anything better to do than spew hatred. Don't be a hypocrite. Do the research without being arrogant. I have included sites to LDS Apologetics so you can have answers to these accusations. Usually the claims made by anti Mormons are very weak and easy to negate.
Thank you.

If you believe that the Book of Mormon can't be the word of God, I feel sorry for your soul. You say your a true christian, than show me where in the scriptures it says to persecute those who don't believe like you. If you believe that you are a true christian and pass judgement on another religion then you are a liar and a hypocrite.

whats to know
how about a delusional con artist conned his way into the beds of many a lady with his multiple wives stuff and how he sat down and looked into a hat to recite a "holy" book to another man who lost the only copy and then had to re- recite this "holy" book looking in the hat and then found both copies were not exactly alike at all and then this philosophy of kookieness breeds more goofy crap like jesus and satan are really brothers and the only reason he aint cool no more is cause his "plan" was rejected. quick question if lucifer was in heaven planning for mans redemption and Jesus was too lucifers plan is rejected so therefore they fight and become enemies. but a hey why are they planning a redemption when it was satan who caused adam and eve to fall in the first place. so the chronology of events dont match ignorant one. satan is planning for the redemption of men when he is in fact is the reason for their fall but they wouldnt fall in the first place if he wasnt involved at all. your cult is mixed up! then what jehovah God comes down in physical flesh and blood and bones virgin mary to concieve jesus huh doesnt isaiah prophesy a "virgin" birth? i guess joe smith knows more what a moron thats what this religious cult should be called the
moron church not the mormon cult hahahaa

Doesn't Christianity teach us that we should be tolerant of other people's beleifs and love them? I hope you all realize that all this man did was invite you to see the video.
