In most cases, the body shrivels up, leaving a husk. The body will rot, too, though in most cases I've found, the body just mummifies. I believe it's due to the way birds are built, with their hollow bones and air sacs. Often animals get to the body before it can decompose, thus the meat, bones and feathers are eaten and strewn about, leaving little proof that the bird was there in the first place. Out of all the dead birds I've seen, only two were maggot infested and both of those had been buried.

They decompose, faster than humans becuaes they are smaller and seldom kept chilled, and are more exposed, if you are really asking what happens to the feathers, well, ever heard of someone finding maggots in a feather duvet or pillow? Ever picked up a feather when you were little and someone said, "It's dirty, put it down"? Feathers, and bones are treated before comericial use, but it's not allows been the case.

I presume you mean "their" bodies. You seem to have no shame, you are not in the least bit put out that your show of intelligence is on the line!
What do you think happens to the dead birds? Do you not think that nature's recycling kicks in?
