Get yourself a notebook and some blank paper (loose leaf).
Get yourself a ruler -- preferably one that can be hooked into your notebook.
Get yourself a couple of pens.
Get yourself a half dozen pencils with erasers.
If your school does not have lockers, get yourself a day pack to carry around your books.
If your school requires uniforms, get several complete outfits. Otherwise, make sure you have an adequate supply of regular clothing.
If your school requires P.E. uniforms, get two complete outfits.

It's not like college where you need to buy your books and supplies before hand. The class teachers will tell you what you need in the first day's class.
You should consider a good graphing calculator. I also think that now days a computer is pretty much required. Do you have a good word processor program? You probably have Internet access, if you are on this board. That is great; learn how to use a search engine--that is real important. It can turn a 4 day research paper into only 2 nights of work.
All your books will be provided, and most sports programs have their own equipment. I had a drafting class in High School once where I had to get some mechanical pencils and some drafting supplies, but that was the only class I needed to get equipment for during my entire grade school experience.
Don't worry about it. I think that where you should concentrate your time on is preparation before you go to school. Learn how to type, speed reading will make the homework go faster, know how to use your computer and how to conduct on-line research.

on the first day I'd bring a pencil and a notebook, alot of teachers have specific requirements so it's best to wait and see what they want
