I am driving my boyfriend to and from the hospital for his surgery to repair his torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his knee. This is an outpatient procedure. Has anyone had this surgery before? Give me an idea of what to expect from him afterward...when the anesthesia wears off, etc. How can I help him feel comfortable? Give me some ideas!

An old friend of mine had it about 2 or 3 years ago.

Depends on how the tear was and how extensive.

It hurts alot, so he'll probably be on crutches for a few weeks and need help maybe getting around.

Feed the boy, do some laundry, open doors, drive and hold things. Make sure he takes his pain pills and MAKE SURE he follows through with his physical therapy and exercises when the time comes for that to happen.

Good luck to you both.
