Greeks and Romans loved pork. They took over the Jewish sect known as Christianity and tweaked it to their liking. They also threw in the idea of Hades and a hierarchy of demons, priests, popes and saints, borrowing these concepts from their earlier religions (which we call "Greek mythology" and "Roman mythology" today).
Paul changed Christianity. Paul who never met Jesus and never talked to him. That Paul. Jesus did not change the Jewish law. Paul changed it. Christianity should more accurately be called Paulism, because it's more of this man who never knew Jesus than Jesus himself.

No Christians and Jews don't believe in the same bible. The Jews reject the NT and rightfully so. Of course the Christians look at the OT and try to find ways to slur the Jews. Bottom line is that both books are crocks of bleep. People eat pork now because Pigs can be kept cleaner than in the past...farm bred and grown rather than captured in the wild. PEACE!

THE JEWS are the Chosen People.....WE non Jews who are True Christians are ""grafted on"".
The Ancient Seal Of The Messianic Church
The Seal Of The Messianic Church EVIDENCE THAT THE EARLIEST CHURCH IN EXISTANCE WAS JEWISH One of the strongest evidences for this is the presence of many artifacts, clay pots, and lamps, which are engraved with what has come to be called the SEAL OF THE MESSIANIC CHURCH. The seal has been copyrighted as " Seven Branched Candelabra/Star of David/Fish" A book entitled "The Messianic Seal of the Jerusalem Church" by Reuven Efraim Schmalz and Raymond Robert Fischer has been published (Olim Publications, P.O. Box 2111,Tiberias, Israel. Top of Seal see the Seven Branch Candelabra that stood before God in the Temple. Below that, see the Star of David, which is from the 7th century BC. It is composed of two interlaced, equilateral triangles or DALTHA (D for David). "A star shall come forth from Jacob, and a scepter shall rise from Israel" Numbers 24:17. Below the star is a fish which is an early Christian symbol in Israel. It was transported to Rome, and by 150 AD. Clement of Alexandria suggested to all his readers that they include the sign of a fish in their personal seals to identify them as Christians. Later the Greek spelling for the word fish ICHTHUS was incorporated. The first five letters of the words that spell "Jesus, Christ, God, Son, and Saviour." In the Messianic Seal, the cross appears as the Hebrew letter TAW. The artifacts were discovered in 1990 by Tech Oteeoos, a 90 year old Greek Orthodox monk, in the vicinity of the, what is believed to be, the original Church founded and pastored by James the Just, the half-brother of Jesus. When the actual grotto was excavated by Oteeoos, numerous inscriptions were found on the walls. The period of its use on Mount Zion could only have been from the crucifixion in 30 AD to 135AD. This was a question asked by the early Church. Essentially, do you first have to become Jewish in order to be Christian? The Apostles debated this, and eventually decided that you didn't. In specific reference to pork, see Acts 11:6-9.
Here's one explanation for why certain animals were labeled unclean in the first place: "The prohibition of so many kinds of beasts, birds, and fishes, in the law, was ordered, 1st, to exercise the people in obedience, and temperance; 2ndly, to restrain them from the vices of which these animals were symbols; 3rdly, because the things here forbidden were for the most part unwholesome, and not proper to be eaten; 4thly, that the people of God, by being obliged to abstain from things corporally unclean, might be trained up to seek a spiritual cleanness. The old testiment told the people to NOT eat pork-- not for a religious reason, but because back then pigs were full of bacteria. And it wasn't healthy.
When reading the bible you need to know what is cultural and what is actually rules to live by.
For example in the New Testment there is a letter to one of the churches and it said for women to NOT cut their hair........why?
Because only whores cut their hair. It has nothing to do with hair , it has to do with what was going on in that century.
I hope that answers your question

It's in the Old Testament. Many Christians do practice being Kosher, to be on the safe side. Tho, just like meat on Friday, certain actions aren't so taboo anymore. Changes were made as times changed.
Fun Fact: it was once an affront to God to use a fork. it assumed your fingers (given by God) weren't good enough to touch your food.

Because as Christians we are under the Covenant of Grace not of the Law.
But I am a Christian Pastor and I don't eat pork.
WHY?
God said not to and I figure the manufacturer may know more about my physical health than Dr's.

Jews follow the Mosaic law in the Hebrew scriptures. Christians follow the Law of Christ in the Greek Scriptures.

Because Jews and Catholics practice a lot of stuff that is not Bible related, such as good works to get to Heaven. Such things are not true, but they have slurred the word of God to conform to their own beliefs.

Simply put, it is not what goes in to the body that defiles it, but what comes out of a persons heart. For it is out of the heart and out of the mouth that defiles the person. If you read the book of Acts you would find the answer to your question.
