Is all that violence and terrorism attributed ONLY to misunderstanding Islam?

Most Muslims say that terrorists don't represent real Islam. They say that terrorists just misunderstand and misinterpret Islamic teachings. I would understand this if there was 1 or 2 or even 5 terrorist attacks, but there seem to be too many terrorist attacks everywhere: USA, Russia, India, Israel, UK, Spain, Egypt, Saudi, Iraq, Indonesia, and everywhere else.

Is it possible that ALL those attacks are carried out by people who misunderstand Islam? Are all Muslims sure there is nothing WRONG in Islamic teachings themselves? I understand that one or two or few persons could misunderstand, but not those many groups!

How many horrific deeds have been performed in the name of Christ?

Everything from the Crusades to the Spanish Inquisition, all the way up to modern abortion clinic bombings have been perpetrated by those who claim to be devout Christians.

I don't think anyone today would agree that these acts are the acts of someone who represents true Christianity. Such is the same with Islamic terrorists.

I think that the role faith has in these attacks is exaggerated, even by those who are performing the acts. They may claim they are doing it as part of a holy war, they may even believe that their faith is their motivation for their terrorist activities, but I think that they are really acting out of political, economic and tribal/racial motivations - striking at those they see as oppressing or persecuting them (which may or may not be true).

Even those terrorists who truly believe they are fighting a holy war for Islam, striking at the infidel are actually fighting a totally different war, which has very little to do with faith.

First of all the terrorists are usually from a very sect of Islam called Shi'ite. They have very different beliefs than normal muslim people and very extreme. There are a lot of terrorists and not just muslim people but the media is really concentrating on them. They are a couple of sick individual leaders who want to make money and have their own self intresets and start tricking the poor people that what they are doing is for Islam. Its usually brain washed poor people working for one very smart and sick individual in the name of Islam.
Anyways if you dont believe that and really want to know if its a misunderstanding or not then go ahead and read the Quran and then you can judge. I believe that Islam is the most peaceful and loving religion that ever existed.
PS: Muslim people are not too fond of those Islamic extremists and terorists that are destroying innocent peoples lives in the name of Islam. Try to be a little open minded.

It's called "I won't take resposibilite for my actions" syndrome-
Lets imagine a group of radical Christian conservatives blowing up the empire state building in the name of Jesus - now don't you think that all the other Christians would rise up and reject this action and say we don't approve of this? We don't affiliate with these types of people . Well how many Muslims went out and demonstrated against the terrorist? How many Muslims made excuses for the way they are ie poor , living next to Israel , hard life,
well there are a lot of poor or persecuted black Africans and you don't see them blowing up Disco's or subways or trashing the embassy cuz Muhamad the cartoon has a towel on his head with a bomb in it . If Jews got up and started bombing all the countries that helped kill them then there should be hundreds if not millions of Jewish terrorist that hijack planes according to that theory

the Muslims are all radical - and I'm not even talking about how they like to blow themselves up - did you know that if a girl goes out with a boy without a chaperon - her brother has the right to kill her because she has disgraced the family name(this is not an old law they do this today). Did you know that it is punishable by death to sell you land to an infidel.
the problem doesn't rest on the Muslims - it's the refusal for the liberals to face the facts about these people and to stand up against them and to acknowledge that they are a threat to world peace instead of giving excuses to these thugs

While terrorists may couch their actions and messages in the language of religion such as Islam, the fact is their motivations and their objectives are largely political in nature. Terrorism is not a problem common to one religion rather than others; terrorism is a political action and should be dealt with appropriately either through negotiation or direct military intervention.

For Kitty_Katt: Oh My God! All the terrorist groups I know of are Sunnis, with the exception of Hezbollah and its Iranian backers. Ossama Bin Laden and his henchmen are Wahhabi Sunnis, the terrorist that attacked tourists and non Muslims in Egypt and Algeria were also Sunnis. Al Qaeda is a Sunni organization. The "insurgents" in Iraq are Sunnis etc. Please tell me the basis of your claim that most terrorism is committed by Shiites.

individually made his own miss understanding.
some people make their own radical explanations for Quraan
and prophetic Sunnah and then widely spread their extremist Ideology that convince some others according to their conditions and their personalities
CAN you then explain me how are there Extremist of all religions and Ideologies?:Christians,Jews,conservatives,liberals,Communists.....etc?
