Check out their registries! But MONEY is always the best gift.
My husband and I really didn't need much for our home because we had already lived together for a year so we had stuff for our apartment. So we requested (politely and by word of mouth) money so we could put it away towards buying a new home or car. Trust me...young couples need all the cash they can get!

Speaking as someon about to get married, I would appreciate either money; a gift certificate to Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, or Lowe's; or, a flat screen television. Since, I don't think you'll go for the last one...shoot for one of the first two.

Most couples use bridal registries now. If you don't like what's on the list, or want to be more creative, why not give them a gift certificate combination: one to the local grocery store so they can stock up after the honeymoon, and one to their favorite restaurant so they don't have to cook their first night back.

It depends on the couple. I always compile a gift basket to cater to the couple's likes. I have done: a grilling basket (grill seasonings, knives, cutting board, recipes, wine glasses and wine), Tea and coffe basket (teas, coffees, mugs, and homemade cakes and muffins, with recipies), And one that was really great included two cast iron skillets and cornbread pan (which I seasoned for them) and recipies for their favorite meals, along with all the non persihable fixings (spices, herbs, etc) and utensils. Good luck!!

1. Money (they could always use it to start out)
2. A luxurious hotel (to celebrate their first night as a married couple and give then a night to remember)
3. A bottle of fine wine (give instructions to open on tenth anniversary and they'll say ''our friend ____gave us that for our wedding.

Most young couples I know aren't in the practical mode--with Panini makers on their registries!

If they met more than a year ago, get them a really nice red wine from that year (a cellar selection) that they can save for their 20th anniversary.

Registries take the guess work out of gift buying! Find out where they're registered.

As a very soon-to-be newlywed, We really appreciate ANYTHING!!! It is the thought that counts not what you buy. Plus if they are young and neither one has lived on their own then they need almost everything. I know we do!!
