ok, my cat is about 9 and i love him so much! but whenever i have people coming over they are alergic! this frustrates me , but i still love mistic,my cat !and if anyone knows i would like to know why, if possible.:) thanks

When people don't like cats they use it as an excuse. So it is not always true. But if they do have allergy problems then it is a problem.
Anyone can have a reaction to the saliva that is common but if you keep your cat brushed it will not be a big issue.

Yes, I am allergic to some cats but not all cats though. Quite a few of my friends have cats in their houses. I only get allergic to certain cats though. And usually it takes 15 to 20 minutes for me to find out whether I am allergic to a cat. And this, to me, is a ironic thing because I absolutely love cats.

The same things happens to me - my cat is very clean (I wash her with these little things that look like baby wipes), but people are still allergic to her. However, my boyfriend, who was once allergis to my cat, is npt as allergic to her anymore - he'll sneeze once or twice, but that's it. I think it is possible to build up a resistance - it may have something to do with the cat dander. Some people, however, aren't really allergic to the cat - they just sneeze because cats tend to shed more than dogs.

They have something in their saliva to which many people are allergic. When they clean their coats with their tongues that's what causes people to be allergic.
It's not the cat itself or their coat.
