This depends on the what the length of one step is. Typically one step equals one yard, or three feet.. Taking this as the norm ,there are 1,760 yards in a mile, so it would be approximately 1,760 steps.

Measurer out 100' on a sidewalk or parking lot. Start walking before the startline and then count the number of steps between start and finish. Multiply by 53 - this will give you approximently how many steps you take in a mile.

Well of course it depends on how long a step is. In the Army, one pace when marching is 18 inches. If you use that as a "standard" step, there are 3,520 steps in a mile. However, this is counting only when the same foot hits the ground. If you want to count both feet, it would be 7,040 steps.

About 2000 steps...usually takes about 15-17 minutes. I've got a pedometer it lets you measure the distance-vs-steps you take in a day.
