"If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. I looked it up in the original bible and this is what I found:
יח כִּי-יִהְיֶה לְאִישׁ, בֵּן סוֹרֵר וּמוֹרֶה--אֵינֶנּוּשֹׁמֵעַ, בְּקוֹל אָבִיו וּבְקוֹל אִמּוֹ; וְיִסְּרוּ אֹתוֹ, well, not enough room but you can look it up in the hebrew for yourself.

You do not actually say what the parents and the council did. If they stoned the child and killed him or her; then YES. Report it to the FBI.

If they just were making a point to behave to the child by bringing them before the council, and there was no serious injury; then NO. Discipline does come in many forms, and the basic ones sometimes do not do what is necessary.

If unsure, then report it to a person of authority outside the town you live in; and let them take it into consideration as to what needs done.

That was the letter of the law of Moses, Jesus came and replaced the law of Moses with the law of Christ which is more applicable to our society today. Following the letter of the law of Moses is what caused the Jews to not be open to Jesus' new law. A law that puts more emphasis on our heart and our desires then just our outward actions.

Short answer- if someone is living the letter of the law of Moses to the point that they are stoning someone or killing someone for breaking a commandment, you should turn them in because that law is outdated. (that doesn't mean however that the concepts and principals at the core of that law were thrown out, God just wanted to help people understand that the focus is on our inner actions not our outer ones.)

but given the tone of your note I seriously doubt you are a careful student who treasures the word. The short answer is

first , This is a comand for Israel under Moses and bets are rarely enforced but a good threat eh?

second, It would not apply directly for the church or any church tradition i have ever heard. The church owuld be commanded to show mercy and patience to the kid ... the most direct thign would be to say children obey your parents in the lord for htis is the first commandment with a promise that you live long

Hay you need to read the Word more.That is the Mount Siani Law
that the Jewish people lived under.I had rather live under GRACE
that Jesus usered in.Rom 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Nowhere is the new testiament christian told to stone their rebilious
children.We are told to love them and LOVE will break hard hearts.The
Love I am talking about sometimes mean to say NO and if they don't
obey the family rules they can leave until they will (young adults) not
minnors. I will choose to obey Gods Law it works I know personally.

This is how things were done in the Old Testament, before Christ. When Christ came, he brought in a New Covenant (testament).

I sense that you are trying to use the Bible to make fun of religion. The fact that you mention that you looked this up in the original Bible shows me that you do not really understand the Bible.

You may fail to realize that God and religion exists regardless of any written document. God created before the creation story was written down. Understand?

That was the Old Testament, which was canceled out by the New. The only part of the Old Testament that still applies is the Ten Commandments. And really, how hard are those?
The New Testament even SAYS those old laws don't apply anymore.

Don't report your neighbors - they are fully within their rights and are simply following their religion. Just be glad they had their kid "stoned" because he was obviously a troublemaker. Now you don't have to worry about him pulling pranks on you.

Also, if by some chance the kid survives his stoning, make sure the neighbors don't take him to the demon-Doctors for medical help. Doctors, nurses, surgeons, etc. are all doing the Devil's work and if the kid's meant to live, then God will heal him.

If someone really did that YES report them No one has a right to do that. And in the bible bloodshed is a sin. They must be kidding their self's because they are accountable to God for that God is the only one that has a right to take life away because he gave life. They may not believe it but Judgment Day is coming.

Actually, Christ said that he came to "fulfill the law" so that means he fulfilled the O.T. and that's why we have the New Testament. He even fulfilled the 10 commandments, not that their not EXCELLENT GUIDELINES to follow, they STILL are today. However, since we're not Jews, but Spiritual Jews, circumscised of the heart as the bible says, then we need only worry about Christ's laws.

You don't have to stone the kid. The Bible is not to be taken so literally. Basically that passage means that you should make an example of the "stubborn and rebellious" child.
