What's the best way to relax on a hot day if you don't have air conditioning?

Haha, you've hit on a problem that's facing many Americans today. Considering the heat wave and all....

I find that laying down in a cool area helps me. Taking a shower or swimming are also popular solutions. You can sleep through the heat if you want, but I find that that makes me even hotter.

Don't over-exert yourself and drinking plenty of fluids seems to cool me down to an extent. If you don't have air-conditioning and that's the only way you can cool down, then you can go to a public place (ie library, or store) where there is working A/C.

Drink plenty of fluids, and be by the water or take cool showers and wipe with clean, cool cloths. Dress in light, thin fabrics, and avoid overexertion.
Sit under a sprinkler. Use sun block.

Go into the bath room, light a scented candle, turn off the lights and then get into the tub that you filled with cold water. It's the next best thing if you don't have a pool.

I've the same problem, so I and my husband go to Barns and Noble bookstore. They have comfy chair, A/C and also the music playing.. They open from 9 to 11 (in CA).. Good luck!

lay on the basement floor. or go outside under a shady tree in the grass. or eat a Popsicle. I also like to put a cool wash cloth on my forehead if i am trying to sleep.

sit in a cool pool, go wading, take a warm bath, sit in the shade have fans on you. i prefer just sitting in the wading pool or taking a nice relaxing bath while reading
