My friend had put her foot beneath the sand at the beach and believes this is when the strange rash appeared. She has it for three years. The doctors were not much help. Could it be something she contracted from the ocean beach. It has irregular edges and maybe slightly raised in appearence. It was itchy in the beginning, now it is not. Her age is mid fifties.

They could be sand-flea bites, and she may have a sensitivity to them.

I had similar experience years ago at the beach, I knew it was after a walk on the sand. Similar description of the 'rush' under my foot; it turned out to be a ..wart. At the beginning it did not hurt, months later I had to go to the dermatologist. Usually warts hurt pretty badly, but not in your case. Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to try an old home remedy for warts: slices of garlic on the area secured with plastic wrap at night. Little blister will appear, leave it to dry. Repeat night procedure until gone. Hope it works for you.

Three years is a long time to have a rash. Has your friend tried seeing a dermatologist?

It sounds like ringworm (athletes foot), but I would think doctors would have diagnosed that.

It might also be some form of psoriasis, or possibly an alergic reaction to the shoes/socks she wears.
