This is not an atheist answer or anything, so please read it through and you will see what I mean...
Last time I checked it out, a baby came from a man and woman having sexual intercourse... when the baby develops, chromosomes inside the cells determine if it will be deformed...
God did not make any mistake in the amount of chromosomes, nor did he create the baby. The man and woman created the baby, and the man and woman had defective or mutated cells.
When God "made humans", he actually brought us into our current consciousness. God created the human consciousness, beginning with Adam.
So, God remains perfect and not at fault for our mistakes.

I may look like a mistake from your perspective, but God sees a much larger picture.
Everything that happens, happens to produce the best possible spiritual outcome.
Your true reality is as spirit, as a part of God.
The purpose of this life you are having on earth is spiritual growth.
Human life is not an end on to it's self. It is simply a means to obtain a spiritual end.
Always remember that you are spirit having a human experience.
You are not simply a human being with a minor spiritual aspect.
You are far more than you currently imagine yourself to be.
Love and blessings.

For an atheist you sure have lots of questions about God.
OK what about human imperfections, mistakes, sickness, suffering etc?.
There are 3 choices in what they call world views.
1. All is good ( there is no evil for instance a murderer wasnt loved as a child, he had Attention Deficit etc)
2. Everything is evil, bad and cant be fixed.
3. The world is good and imperfections can be restored.

Your religious leaders would say, "It's all part of god's plan," but explain it's beyond our capacity to understand the plan.
Translation: they don't have a clue why these things happen, but they want to bullshit you.
My feeling: if God exists, then she Created the system, but does not take a direct hand in the day-to-day events. The randomness of life causes bad things to happen, and God intentionally doesn't fix them.
Probably because She's too busy and we're just not that important to Her.
My religious beliefs aren't mainstream :-)

I look at it in another way. God created physical laws that govern our universe. These laws include physics, chemistry, and biology. Deformities, to me, are evidence of God's laws at work (in your case, genetics!).

Those deformities aren't mistakes that God made- they're genetic abnormalities. If anything, they're genetic mistakes.

Sure.
He created Atheists.
So do you really go up to people with disabilities and call them a mistake?
Talk about apathy.

god's perfect so he cant make mistakes. its because of Adam and Eve's rebellion that we have inherited sin and imperfection. Those kids being born without arms is all part of our being imperfect.
