4 star hotel in NYC is going to go for $250 or so.

You need to look at 2 star hotels for your price range. A good 3 star will go for $175 or so.

Nothing is a 10 minute commute from NYC. The traffic into the city will take 20-30 minutes on the best of traffic days. Your best bet is the train, but if you factor in the schedules and delays you are still looking at 20 minutes.

We stayed in the Quality Hotel at 59 W 46th St. in 2001. The room was small but it was clean and reasonably priced. I just tried to look for it on Expedia and Travelocity and could not find it so it may have changed hands or is not a hotel anymore. I'm not sure. I find really good luck using Travelocity to find hotels. I read all the comments people leave and choose based on the comments posted. You might want to try looking on Travelocity. I think Midtown Manhattan has hotels in your price range. We stayed in Midtown and walked to the theatre, bus terminal (took a bus to a concert at Giant's Stadium), Hard Rock Cafe, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, Rockefeller Plaza, and took the subway to places that weren't close by. I want to go back to New York!!! Have a great time.

I've done that this weekend. YMCA (west side or vaderbilt) 120 dlls for a small room with private bath and private room. The best deal you'll find in Manhattan

Try the Broadway hotel around 30th.....I think it's pretty cheap and a great local. If not, try Jersey city....a trainride away, but alot cheaper.

It searches dozens of websites at once then brings their prices up side by side so you can compare them
