We always hear the negative side of the current war the United States is facing against terrorism. It is always in the media "2,500 US soldiers are now dead."

My question is, how many terrorists have our soldiers killed/detained in their efforts, and why does the media not report this? If they do it's not very often.

Serious answers only please.

That bit of Vietnam history was very interesting, I did not know that; before my time.

Seperating terrorists from suspected terrorists is irrelevant. I want to know how many actual terrorists we have gotten, as I know it is well over 2,500. Every person in Gitmo is a terrorist, not a suspect, so seperating them to get an average number can't be too difficult as it has been and is being done now.

Does anyone have an estimated number and if so, could you please give me a source?

While I was in Iraq the number my brigade killed varied from none to several dozen in a day. It all depends on whats going on over there. As far as being detained my brigade detained just over 1000 people during the course of our year-long stay. I was in the north that was much more quite than the middle.

The media doesn't report this because of the image. The impact of USA soldier's being hurt is larger news to many folks. Plus it is a negative for the President and the military.

Do you also notice how little is talked about for the other nations that are also there? How many of their soldiers have been hurt or killed?

Star showing positive results based on captures and such and people would start supporting the effort. It is also extremely difficult to say that we captured 10 terrorist today. Who makes the classification? What if they were just migrants? Vietnam took that trust of the "numbers game" away from the military.

Back in Vietnam, the military tried to prove its success by saying the number of enemy killed. Presumably, the more of them we killed the closer we were to winning the war. Since Vietnam didn't work out too well, the military has steered clear of this measure and the media has followed suit. The number of terrorists killed has no predictive value for whether or not we win. New terrorists always seem to take their place.

No ONE WILL EVER know the exact number of terrorists killed, because they are not an army wearing uniform. They dress civilian clothing and disguise themselves as a civilians, and if a number is added up to determined their death people would speak out and say civilians were among the dead. So, it is better not to tell the number of killed terrorists, because a civilian that is killed could be or not be a terrorists too. And NOT everyone calls them a terrorists, many call them freedom fighters.

get yourself a gun. it's the greatest tool you can own.

it's the american way. it is written in the bill of rights, you should read up on it.
i learned that the hard way. i was held up before and robbed of $20 stupid dollars. haha! no big deal, but i was pissed that it even happened. i found the guy who held me and my friend up by tracing the phone calls he made on my cell phone and i drove over to his house at 2am in the morning and shot up 6 rounds off into his car, house and all his windows.
his place looked like downtown Baghdad after i got through with it.

so i bought myself an unregistered gun and now i use it as often as possible. i'm shooting out windows of people's cars i don't like and they don't know it's me.
i have a professional job, i make over $700,000 a year, and i went to a good university with high grades, i got all straight A's and i was a nerdy type, but i grew up in a lousy neighborhood and my parents left me when i was 14. i grew up with step parents and they would beat me all the time when they were in a bad mood.
i had to get a job and support myself when i turned 17, and then i went to school at night.
everything i earned i earned it the right way and the hard way, so when i hear and see stupid people trying to do stupid things, they wish they never would have met me.
because i spare them nothing and i shoot first and don't ask questions ever.
i leave them bleeding in the middle of the street, let god sort them out.
