As long as you don't mind leaving it in the pan, it's not a problem. Tart pans are designed so you can get the tart back out of the pan after baking. Tart pans are a smidge shallower than pie pans, but that won't make much difference.
Just call the end product a pie and no one will know! (I won't tell! Wink!)

Of course. Then it would be called a fruit pie. Tart pans come in 2 pieces, and the bottom cmes out. Once it's cooled, you can remove the edge, then using a knife slide it between the crust and the bottom, then slide the tart out onto a plate. But you can do it in a pie pan, too.

I think it might work the biggest fdifference is that a tart pans sides are straight up and down because it is ment to come out of the pan. Pie pans aren't they are angled and aren't ment to come out. If it were me I might use a pirex dish. It doesn't have to be round you can use a square or oval one. You just need to make sure that it will hold the same volume of ingredients as the tart pan you are supposed to be using. Even if it doesn't come out perfectly pretty it will more than likely taste just as good.

A tart pan has a bottom that lifts out so that you can remove the tart without ruining it. A pie pan is also a little deeper and the edging is different.

You can use a pie pan if....you use a non-stick pie pan...or, you line the pan with parchment or wax paper before you put the dough in....otherwise, quick trip to Kitchen Kaboodle and get a tart pan
