'bean picker'/'beaner'/etc are tantamount to racial slurs...illegal immigration is a larger, more complex picture, don't forget there's probably illegal cambodians, chinese, laotian, korean, polish, canadian, norwiegian, czech/russian/nigerian/etc etc etc.

'Illegal' implies that someones' deliberately sneaking 'under the wire' in being in the United States, which differentiates them from being 'legal'(which designates those seeking entry to the US in lawful fashion for work or residency purposes). It is the people moving to my country ILlegally that interests/concerns me, I think there's a Big Huge Gap in enforcement there, the ratio of people who are in the US illegally from Mexico outnumbers most/all rivals mainly because they're right next door, jump the border under cover of darkness, and frankly no one has an honest clue HOW many are really in the US. It could be 2 million, could be 30 million, no one's really sure, and that's exactly the problem with illegal immigration. Further, illegal immigration from Mexico doesn't mean that ONLY Mexican citizens are using that border to come in. It's already been said/proven that 1 in 4 is NOT a mexican citizen.

The problem here is a lack of a comprehensive and cohesive enforcement system. Don't get caught up in a racist attitude, it's unhealthy and probably doesn't really accomplish much.

Our society is addicted to many things, among them are: cheap labor, junk food, imported oil, drugs, and government 'help'. Addicts are also called 'junkies' in reference to the drugs they used to inject, the drugs were called 'junk'. Remember Rocky Horror Picture Show, "...shooting up junk!". Yep. Well, the whole labor issue has amounted to US employers(AND private citizens, yes, you need to get out there and pick your OWN weeds and carry your own trash) becoming dependent(another word for 'addiction' is 'dependency') on cheap imported labor.

The Law Of Unintended Consequences basically says that, no matter how good your plan was, or how honorable your intentions were in trying to take a given action to try and achieve something or correct a problem, chances are there's going to be an unexpected outcome, and the 'healthcare crisis' in america is one such unexpected outcome from the 'inaction' of being tolerant on illegal immigration. I think in the greater context of talking about the issue, we can do WAY better than just ragging on people and calling them dirty names. After all, if we WERE out 'picking beans'(there's a machine that does that, now),
people from mexico and points beyond would not be. Soooo.....
