My old computer had a really neat program that you could use as long as you plugged in a phone cord to it.
It worked as both an answering machine, but you could also make calls from the computer (free!) since it was already hooked up to your phone line.
Does anyone know where I can get a similar program to this at a cheap price? I just want to be able to dial a phone number from the computer and use my microphone to talk to my friends and to have it be used as an answering machine.
Any suggestions would be helpful! :)

Skype has a promo going on until the end of the year. Until that point, you can call any number in the US and Canada for free. You can pay to get an actual phone number for your computer (so people can call you). You could also pay to get a voicemail.
