Tarot cards have many different styles and layouts, but there are two sections to the traditional decks, the Major arcana and Minor...
The Major consists of single cards with different sences... I think there's 22 of them? The Minor has four suits, wands, cups, pentacles, and swords.
The major acrana is the main "branch" of the reading, so i would say that you are unable to do a reading with regular playing cards...

I prefer tarot because of the visual images which can help with the reading and explaining. I have used playing cards, which wasn't unsuccessful - just didn't like them as much. But if you get better impressions from the playing cards then why not!

Today's modern playing cards evolved from Tarot cards so you can certainly do readings from them. The cups are replaced with the hearts, wands are replaced with clubs, swords are replaced with spades and pentacles are replaced with diamonds. The page and Knight cards are combined in the form of the Jacks and the queens and kings obviously remain the same. The fool card is represented by the joker but other than that the major arcana cards are not present.

No.
Our deck of cards represent the Minor Arcana, a subset of tarot cards.
The remainder of the tarot deck is the Major Arcana (Death, The Tower, The Priestess, etc) and are not represented in the modern deck of cards.
Exception: The Fool (a Major Arcana card) is now represented by the modern Joker.

'No, the playing cards have different meanings for them. Try googleing the playing cards interpretations or something similar to that.
And Bryton, sorcery and psychics are not controlled by demonic spirits thank you very much. True psychics have a gift that they use to help people, much like people who use the tarot cards for guidance, there is nothing 'evil' about it.

I don't think so. I have a set of tarot cars, and they're pretty differant from playing cards. Might wanna google it, though, because I'm not sure.

I've seen it done once, not sure what the exact term was called for it, but tarot in general I don't recommend...you open up doors not knowing what's on the other side of them. Can be good or bad. Your risk though.

Yep. Actually, I think playing cards came from tarot cards, or vice versa.

Yes you can, playing cards come from the Minor Arcana. You'll be missing one of the cards (the page) but it can still be done- I suggest the celtic cross spread, and a guide can easily be found on google.
