I sometimes cry when I hear of tragedies about people I don't even know. So I'm sure if it was a student I would definitely cry. I cried when I heard this morning about the little boy who was extremely intelligent but now has a brain tumor. So sad. He's such a darling.

I'm a teacher and I cry if a student's mom or dad dies. I bawl if a student dies. My students become like my kids. I love them. I teach middle school and they are difficult on good days and terrible on bad days. But they are mine.

Always.

Even after the child has left his/her classroom, if they hear later on the child has died, he/she feels very saddened.

My husband has lost a few ex-students, and has sat over the newspaper containing the notice with tears streaming down his face.

When my friend died, only one of my teachers cried when I saw. Most of them just looked like they were in a really ackward position where they didn't know what to do.
