Which do you think is better?

To me homeschooling is better. You have no schedules to go by and the work is done at your own pace. You stop and start when ever you want. It is true you can take vacations at any time. You can still get the socializing part by joining clubs or sports if you like them. There is no peer pressure at all either. There are many more advantages to homeschooling, some have already been listed by others.

Homeschooling..

1. Most Important: Do it for the right reason

2. Reasearch it

3. Pick the best books out, because you (should) know how the kids learn.

4. Sign up for a lot of activites (or enough that the kids can be social.)

5. Take lots of field trips.

6. Get lots of advice

7. If it's not working out, find out what you should do. Did you take the kid out because of the schooll (is it bad, are the kids being bullied, or some really stupid reason.) Did you do it just because you want to spend more time wit hthe kids? Sheltering them for a bad reason (and sometimes good.) Was your kid not getting good grades, and still isn't getting good grades? Etc...

8. If there was no reason (or a dum reason that you took them out) Put them back in

There are many more steps, but those are the most vital.

If you aren't social in your life, It can be just the way the kid is, but It is mainly the relatives fault, because when you are homeschooled, you should have more opurtoinities to go places and there are more things to join, I start school at 6:30-11:00 and learn 9 subjects.

It's the parents fault because they don't take the time to realize the kid needs friends and shouldn't be shelterd from social interactions.

Homeschoolers have absoulty the same things Highschoolers have, Proms, and all that junk. I think there are actually almost no downsides to homeschooling.

The only thing is if you go out of public/private school, you MAY loose your friends and you may not.

Homeschooling won't work for everyone, but everyone should re-search it. Espesially the people who say it's wrong (and never tried it), because I am sure they know nothing about it.

And I love being homeschooled, I have a lot more free time..And I actually enjoy studying, because my mother picked out the best books, she knows what I like, so it can actually be fun.

Homeschoolers don't live in a plastic bubble (hopefully) so we can cope with the "Harsh realties of Life" At least some can make something of it if they take homeschooling seriously.

Homeschooling, considering that it's the original education system, it's time-tested and approved.

With homeschooling, kids can have a broader social life (since only the nut jobs keep their kids at home all day) and can really learn what they need to learn, the way that's best for them. The way every homeschooler I know does it, it also increases the respect homeschooled kids have for themselves and other people, since all of them have jobs, do community service, and aren't raised in a hostile, forced environment like school. Colleges also actively recruit homeschoolers, because they're used to taking the reins in a way that most school kids are not.

That's not an insult to school kids, but think of it this way: at school, everyone's crawling all over you about doing your classwork, turning in your homework, and OHMYGODYOU'LLDIEIFYOUDON'TDOYOURHOMEWORKTONIGHTANDBRINGITINTOMORROW. Then at home, your parents make you do your homework. You also have to follow a state-mandated curriculum made by politicians (who don't know jack about really educating kids) whereas with homeschooling, you follow your own interests, which is what you need to do in real life anyway.

Homeschooled kids are also prime candidates for internships and whatnot, because they can devote more time and attention to work than their schooled counterparts and can show up at noon during the week, during the school year. That, and they tend to be more mature about what they're doing and more knowledgeable.

That's really mainly because school kids have all their time blocked up with predetermined busywork, not because homeschooling makes you a better or worse person.

Obviously, you can horribly screw up your homeschooling and end up with a socially inept savant. The people who do that get all the media coverage and stick in people's minds when they come in contact with them.

Don't judge a system by how it goes wrong.

homeschooled is good you can work at your own pace and can pratice andd study the same material before moving to harder material. with homeschooling there are no class room changes and no interupations in your school work due to behavior problems in the classroom and the teacher having to take attendance and you can take vacations during any time of the year because you are tied down to the regular schools schedule

Depends. I wasn't homeschooled, and I am fine. My brother was due to intense bullying problems at his school (he was assaulted twice), and even though he is fine, going to school would have allowed him to have more friends. So I say a GOOD public school is better for socialization.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE homeschool! I think it should be the first choice. But it obviously won't work for everyone, so I guess that "regular" schools are a "necessary evil". LOL
