In my personal case because I have nightmares and wake up with a feeling of bloating and hunger. Nevertheless it is more complicated, your metabolism slows down, lets say you follow your brain's directive and eat close to bedtime, your body will not dip into the fat it has stored away, and will probably even store some more. Every time you eat, your metabolism increases slightly. But this effect is lost or minimized late at night. You don't get the same metabolism-boosting benefit when you eat just before bed, because a couple of hours after dinner, your body begins preparing for sleep.

You shouldn't eat anything heavy before you go to bed. A small snack is okay, because that will help sustain your blood sugar levels overnight and keep you from being as hungry in the morning, but laying down after eating a big meal is like a recipe for indigestion.

You've got some good answers above. Our biggest meals should be in the morning and afternoon, as we can burn them off. When we begin to slow down in the evening this is when we should be eating really light, as these things just kind of stick with us for the rest of the night. This is when we can really gain weight is the night eating and snacking, hope this makes sense....

Because the food will automatically be stored as fat. Food is fuel for your body, and when you don't use it, it turns into fat. Thats why exercising is so important. It's healthy to eat 3 hours before you go to bed.

when u eat before bed , instead of the food turning into energy for u to use during the day, it turns to fat. its not that its terible for u, its just another way to gain weight.

Because the food sits and rotts in your stomach especially meat.
Also it makes horrible morning breath!
