They will present a proposal to target businesses that employ ILLEGALS! The city councilman said he believes the ILLEGAL immigrant work force in the area is SUBSTANTIAL!! "it's one of the tools we have,to encourage employers to "do the right thing",and that,to me,is the key." 'We have a large population in this community, who are ILLEGAL,and the reason for most of them being here is to find jobs." "Several area businesses will be affected by such an initiative."

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More and more towns and states are saying, "ILLEGALS ARE UNWELCOME HERE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to "vevi". So, SOME illegals MAY pay a few dollars in taxes??? WOOHOOO!! How much are they COSTING us in WELFARE benefits??? I'm sure it's MORE than anything they "might" pay in taxes!!!!!!!!!!
And the MAJORITY of illegals use STOLEN and FAKE i.d.'s to work!!! I PERSONALLY know some people that happened to,and they are having a HELL of a time with the IRS, because the illegals that used the STOLEN i.d.'s did NOT pay taxes, and the IRS came after my friends to make them pay it!!!!!!!!!! Also, i have heard a couple of times on the news, about businesses that hire ILLEGALS,and about THIRTY of them use the SAME social security number!!!!!!!!!

Dear Vevi,

It would seem that FYI should be FYMI (For your misinformation) in your case.

Illegals paying a tax, that’s rich. Where did you hear that?

When you are here Illegally you don’t pay taxes, you don’t get a W-2 at the end of the year. Most of the time they are paid in cash. No receipts. Hmmm. I am sure that Paco might be a wonderful guy, great neighbor and hard worker, But I can’t see him calling the IRS. Or maybe it would go something like this.

Paco: Hallo? IRS man? I have some monies. What kinda taxes you want on my monies?

Sure, and every day is sun shine and we all hold hands.

Illegal is just that ILLEGAL.

When you break the law, any law…. It’s not good.

When you do something Illegal, that is bad.

Got that?

Sure they work cheap, but hey. What ever happened to the living wage so many people were harping about not so long ago, wanting to raise the minimum wage. But hey not for Paco. Screw Paco. Let him work himself to death for $1.50 an hour.

And people like to say that conservatives are heartless.

So what is it now, better benefits but only for second or third generation Americans? How about for everybody. If you make it HARDER for Paco to get here without the proper forms, when he gets here he will be paid a real wage for it.

I love immigrants, my family comes from Europe not so long ago and my wife was born in Poland. So I have a HUGE family that lives in other countries. Do they guard their borders? Sure do and they are in the EU, and so are their neighbors.

Life is hard, you have to work hard. If it costs more to hire people that just means that you need to make more money before you can hire someone. But if we have a huge pool of cheap labor, well that is just screwing everybody.

How good is the health care, housing and quality of life for many illegals? I’m sure it’s wonderful in you eyes. Well bucko FYI… it sucks.

Wake up and smell the revolution ladies and germs. Things are changing and you might just have to pay your pool boy a living wage. What a shame.

Asheville,where?In North Carolina?Hmmmmm,okay.

Some may claim that, but few will follow.Especially when the jobs previously held by illegals are empty and no one wants to fill them.Atleast not for the same pay as illegals recieved. They'll reconsider and begin hiring illegals again.Just watch.

I really like cops, but have never seen an episode on illegal immigration.Maybe that shows how much america is really concerned about your plight.Bad boys, bad boys...go eat a donut.

Hey there. I live in North Carolina where the Town of Asheville is. Asheville is one that doesn't depend on illegal immigrants. They have a strong tourism industry to sustain them.
But however wrong it may be, alot of small towns that do farming, tobacco growing, strawberry fields, etc depend on those workers to help them. Alot of small towns in North Carolina (along with other southern states) will collapse if immigration is made illegal and there are crackdowns made on employers.

Yes it is wrong. No one disputes that. I myself do not agree with amnesty for them but I don't neccesarily think we should deport them from communities that depend on the illegal work-force. I think illegals that have made a positive contribution to their communities should be allowed to stay but those who haven't and have only caused crimes, should have to leave.

Asheville is terribly wrong. Alot of southern communities are standing behind their illegal work-force. I highly doubt you live in the south or you would see how the communities depend on the work-force. Do you think legal citizens would want to work in a tobacco field for $50 a week or so in the hot sun all day?
No. The fact is they are doing manual labor and the southern communities depend on them.

The system is flawed yes but small southern towns need illegals.

Vevi-Have you ever had a job? Whats the first thing they ask for? Your social security number. illegals don't have a social security number so they get paid in cash and they DON'T pay taxes on cash. I have worked an "Under the table" job and I didn't pay any taxes on that. So no they haven't paid any DUES to america.

FYI- these small businesses employ illegals b/c it is the only peeps they can afford to pay. If this town is really doing this...I feel bad for the business owners...it is b/c of these situations that big business keeps getting bigger and small businesses are losing their leverage!
So, thank you for supporting the big business monopoly on prices and for killing the foundation for America-the small business!!

also for your FYI-immigrants are subject to paying the same taxes you are when employed, the only difference is that unlike you they don't receive those taxes back (they are not allowed to file an income tax) , so in some sense they have paid their dues for not being legal.

Well and good!
All communities just need to openly adopt a very firm astance to support the federal regulations and force their police to
what is that word,
Oh Yeah!
POLICE
their jurisdictions and arrest lswbreakers.
You see, if it is against federal law then, it is against state law and county awand city/town/village law
BY DEFINITION!
I think it is time for citizens to go to court and force thier local constabuary (police) to do their jobs!
For crying out loud folks! we have about a million or so police officers in this country!
so each one has to catch just one a month
tada! illegal free (relatively)

1 the other side tried to wage a very week campaign of lies and deceit by telling us that there were not that many
easily proven wrong
2 then they tried to convince us of the plight of these criminals.
also disproven and even if it wasn't I do no care! they are criminals and they need to be prosecuted and deported
3 then came the claim that the problem was too big. that is like saying I am soo fat, I might as well not exercise or diet because I am past the point of no return! how stupid can you get?
4 thrown into the mix is the incessant name calling to try to cow us and make us bow to ridicule.
Oh no! you are calling me bad and false things! I must convert to your side! you win! you win!

again how weak and stupid can you get?
and finally
5 criminal is now a race of its own so if we touch that subject then we are racist!

Boy, how can any ethnicity get behind this argument and not be totally pissed off by comparing the prosecution of criminal activity to actual prejudicial treatment?
One a day vitamins?
one a month arrests!

A few years ago when I lived near Asheville, it was going from a lovely, southern, well-kept city, to one with huge pockets of run-down, overfilled homes, with trash spilling out all over the lawns. All the redneck jokes you can think of were alive and well in those newly slum areas.

The citizens are to be complimented for trying to recover the charm of their homeplace.

Now, if the rest of the nation would just follow this example!

He sounds like kind of an idiot. I can see how he's hurting various people (the businesses; the "illegals"; the customers of the businesses). It's not clear who he is helping (and he didn't bother to say). If you hurt a lot of people, and don't help many people, how can you stay in public office?
