I've heard (read) the minimization of immigrant soldiers' service and sacrifice. The argument: They JUST want citizenship. Yes, and some JUST want money for college. Some JUST want to get away from home. Some JUST want adventure. But over there, they care about and defend on another in a pit of hell that no self-proclaimed, pious expert on Americanism who has NEVER been there can understand. I hear the echoes of Vietnam-Era anti-Americanism, cloaked with a facade of patriotism. It IS American to sacrifice for freedom. EVERY troop, regardless of his origin, who stands shoulder-to-shoulder with my son or yours, deserves, along with his family, our honor and respect. His sacrifice, and the sacrifice of his family, EVEN if they are illegal, IS an American sacrifice. During Vietnam many in our country turned radically to an elevated sense of self-importance to justify hating some, if not all of our troops. Are you any different if you hate our immigrant troops, or even their families?

Comment on yars232c's comment below - In this forum the sacrifice and service of troops who are immigrants to the US has been minimized by those who sarcastically exclaim "they just want citizenship," in one breath, and "their illegal immigrant families should get out of the US" in the next breath ..... What do you mean it's not about hate and racism? That's EXACTLY what it's about. And ANY justification for hatred that vilifies the honorable service of our troops, regardless of national origin, is no more honorable to me than when arrogant "patriots" threw urine and feces on returning troops during Vietnam ..... I don't care whose shoulders you stand on to justify your actions, hatred and minimization of the troops is wrong.

Comment on gokart121, below: Um, are you simply dismissing the question to front your agenda? Since we're making assumptions, perhaps you're a racist who can't stant even a fraction of an argument that would tarnish your stupidity. You ARE the type who would have thrown urine on our troops as long as it fit your agenda aren't you? If you want to stick with your agenda, and not answer my questions I suppose you'll need to accept my wrath ..... btw, why ARE you here?

The people addressed by your question decided to pass, as their reading comprehension skills are not at the same level with their racist hatred cloaked as partriotism and political savvy.

You will experience in this forum that the frontrunners for cerebral discourse are the two you have addressed. Their anti-illegal position precludes them from wearing the cloak of reason, lest they lose their place in the clique, who believes that demeaning Mexicans, because this group has no awareness that illegal immigration encompasses many other nationalities, makes them anti-illegal quarterbacks with Coach Sealrborders. The two you address tend to need someone else to disclose their true sentiments; what better person to lead the latent racists than a person who in the real world likely had a personal experience that went bad with a Mexican? What else explains the villification of a race at the intensity demonstrated by that character sealrborder and her cohorts. I have yet to read a political position, such as you have posed to this forum, from any of the users here. Suffice it to say, that you will not read any views other than spewed territorial hatred enveloped in fetish descriptions of their preferential parts of the human anatomy.

Thank you for the contribution to the human element of the immigration category. The common sense of the users mentioned made an exit, and cyber urine is the order of the day!

No we are better at what we do becuase we stand on our predecessor's shoulders.

they've gone through ellis island, civil rights, even some whopping fairy tales and make all kinds of assumptions - but it still remains the fact the we are a soveriegn country and make our own rules just like everyone else. Are you saying that the vets weren't citizens and here illegally and why tried to throw them out?

You comparision doesn't work for this or any other hate - because it's not about hate and race.

And your vile comparisons of people violating others isn't happening either. That came out after a time that if you recall when sexual harassment was normal and so was beating your wife.

You are more than welcome to take in as many illegal family members as you wish and become their welfare state in your own home. By current projection 95% of your pay will be taxes in a few decades.

Wow, I almost cried. Almost. I think what the Real Deal is is that you're trying to hide the OTHER 11.999 million or so illegal immigrants behind some people that are seeking US citizenship through military service. Nice try, but it won't wash....

Their parents threw excrement on coffin transports of dead Vietnam soldiers (Travis AFB) Ca. . Their parents threw garbage at returning troops at San Francisco Int Airport, calling them baby killers and spitting. They desecrated the cemeteries of war dead nationwide. They burned down colleges chanting Ho Ho Ho Chi Minh and waving the Communist flag while burning ours at Universities everywhere. This is just the resumption of a proud family tradition for many. They are the spawn of such creatures.
