My new next-door-neighbor came to my door to tell me he was going to remove the wooden fence between our yards and build a block wall. I told him I wasn't financially able to pitch in, and he said that he wasn't going to ask for money....just permission.
I said that would be fine.
I went on vacation and when I returned the wall was completed.
I noticed they didn't 'dress' my side of the wall. All the cement between the blocks has dripped and it looks awful.
He also built a surrounding wall around our cable meter, which the electric company made him remove because it blocked their access.
I know I shouldn't really be complaining about the wall, but it looks so bad I don't think it will be a good 'selling point' when I put the house on the market.
Is there anything I can legally do to get them to fix my side of the wall?
They already think I 'told on them' about the wall around the cable meter....I did not.

I have not spoken to the neighbor because they won't talk to me. They think I called the electric company on them about the wall around the cable box, but it was the electric company who noticed it themselves.

there is nothing you can do legally. you could ask him to clean you your side of the wall but he doesnt have to. you should clean it up yourself or add some plants to cover the mess.

Find out where it actually lies, your property or his. If it is on yours you should be able to have him remove it or clean it up. You can always build a fence to cover up the eyesore. You might want to talk to an attorney in your area. They will usually give you a fee consult. It sounds like you don't want to sue though.

Have you tried talking to your neighbor? Sometimes you are more successful when you are cordial. Maybe you could approach it by asking him if he would show you how to fix it up so it looks better. The two of you might be able to work on it together and become better friends and or he might realize how crappy it looks on your side and do the work himself.

Tell him you didn't call the electric company. They were bound to notice it anyway and how does it hurt you if they can't read your meter.

Have you tried talking with your neighbor? Since he paid for the wall can you not afford to pay to have someone come out and "dress" your side? If all else fails you could take him to small claims court, but the court will probably tell you to pay to have your side fixed yourself. My suggestion would be to talk with your neighbors like adults and try to come to an agreement on the best solution to fix the wall.

I'd first find out if the wall was put up on the property line or on your neighbors property. If it's on the property line, I'd get the name of the company that put up the wall and complain. If it's on your neighbors property, then I don't know if you have any legal recourse.

It would be best to talk to your neighbors even thou they will not talk to you. Tell them about the cable company.

Beyond that, you would have to sue them about the wall. Maybe they have extra materials you can use to clean up your side of the wall
