I heard from a black friend that they only wash their hair like once a week or once every two weeks?

for god's sake! thats stupid..depends on the person how often he/she washes their hair, its not something that has to do with the race!

I have to wash my hair every other day. I wear lace front wigs (like Tyra and Beyonce) so , I ended up not relaxing my hair anymore because I don't need to..but my hair itches like crazy if I don't wash it regularly. When i wore a relaxer I still washed my hair often. After a day or 2, those hair dressings and stuff way the hair down and make it look dull. I do understand that some girls don't wash it often to lengthen the life of the relaxer, but I was always the type of girl that said, if it starts looking crazy, I'll just relax it sooner that's all. Jenny, I totally understand what you mean. I have seen that too. I cannot do that. I would feel like I had fleas..

It really does depend on the woman, we all don't have the same routine. Some wash daily, some every few days some once a week/2 weeks. It depends on the woman's hair needs or desired look.

Its because our hair already lack certain oils thats makes yall hair so straight and soft.And washing it as often as any other race would kill all the oild we do have ...making our hair even more dry and brittle....so thats why we only wash our hair once a week or sometimes in winter once every 2 wks.I storngly disagree w/ a black person washing their hair day!!!!

Our hair is a lot dryer and brittle than most other cultures. So, to keep it healthy we wash it once a week or every five days or so. Oil helps our hair stay strong and grow. I wash mine every saturday and I have pretty long hair. (despite my shory syle on the avitar..lol)

It's True! but usually when they've done something to their hair like braids or straighten their hair. Their hair doesn't not produce enough oil for the hair to stay the same way for a while.
Also it's not nasty, since their hair doesn't not produce that much oil, it doesn't smell or stink!!

Only if they have a weave. Plus their hair is very dry so washing it every day will damage it. don't worry thir hair is not greesy
