I had DVD X-COPY from 321 Studios. Yet, as you know, the company went out of business. Is there an alternative Windows based program that actually works?

DVD Shrink cannot burn newer movies released in approx. the last 6 months, because it is no longer updated and cannot remove the new copy protection schemes. All you have to do is first copy the DVD to the Hard drive in DVDFab Decrypter, and then open the files in DVD Shrink.

You can find a full DVD Burning guide at the link below:

It includes screenshots, and links to download the 3 programs you will need to burn DVD movies.

3 Programs used in the guide (download links are included):
DVDFab decrypter
DVD Shrink
Nero

Use DVD Decrypter. It is free.

The problem is most movies are too large to fit on 4.5 gigabyte blanks and the dual layer blanks are too expensive. Look at DVD Shrink. (also free I think, but low-quality video) DVD Rebuilder produces high quality video but takes all day to run and requires paid for encoders.

Also check out PgcEdit and Vob Blanker for removing unneeded and annoying parts.
