I think we should keep religion out of schools. Period.

Morality is fine in terms of learning why it is important to obey laws, what to do when faced with injustice (i.e., is there ever a call for civil disobedience), how to handle moral dilemnas (e.g., you're against abortion but what about in the case of rape?), are there any absolute laws, who defines what is right and wrong, that sort of thing. But defining right and wrong for kids is not possible or practical: we'd never be able to agree on a curriculum except for the absolute broadest points.

Among other things, the type of morality training I just described would help children make decisions in the religious realm. But truly, religious questions are best answered at home. Giving a child the GENERAL tools to be able to make his/her own decisions helps but is no substitute for having religious reference points in the family.

Neither.

It is not up to the education system to teach morality, religion, etc. (except perhaps in a historical or anthropological sense).

School should teach science and facts. It is up to the parents to teach morals.

Kids should be taught ethics in school. Home and church are for teaching morality and religion.

i think the best way to go about it is to teach our children to think for themselves - an education in ancient and current foreign languages should be first, followed by guided readings and discussions of all facets of human understanding from different cultures.

general lafayette, who served in the american army during our revolution, said of america that it was the only place in the world where the farmers spoke latin.

we've gone a long way from that and i believe if true education is reestablished we will go a long way toward healing our broken morality.

3: Big bang theory is throry, not a lifestyle or a belief system

When was the last time someone asked about whether math, science, english, or history are taught in school? Let's worry about academics first.

children should be left without any conditioning, to play and grow into human beings. Stories about the masters, messengers of love, godman can be shared with them.
