I'm aware of the fact that abstinence is the only foolproof way to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. However, if you feel that you've absolutely got to have sex and you're not ready to have a kid, it's better to use SOMETHING rather than nothing at all.

Well first of all you are IGNORANTLY passing a whole lot of judgment.
I have four children...two of them were conceived when I was using protection and using it properly.
My first daughter I was on the pill. I took the pill the same time every day and had been taking that same pill for three years. My third child we were using condoms. We NEVER had sex without a condom and I still got pregnant.
NOTHING except abstinence is 100% guaranteed.
And some people are just more fertile than others to a point where birth control does not work.
I have a friend who got pregnant with all three of her children on different types of birth control and at 23 had her tubes tied because nothing worked for her and she had three children in three years.
Until you have walked in someone Else's shoes you have NO RIGHT to judge.

Not all of them do it on purpose.Sometimes methods fail.Nothing is 100% effective,even when you use it properly.Another thing is,if you wait until you can afford it,it's generally too late.There is rarely a "right" time.There is only now.What I think is really bad are the women in their sixties that are using fertility treatments to conceive.That's just ridiculous.

well.. I have two children... and childcare a month runs me $270 and that is with help.. with out the help I would be paying $680/mo in childcare. my first child was not planned, my second was... and I would have a 1000 children if I wanted to ... I support all woman who have children and struggle... who I don't support are the ones who use abortion/72 hr pills as contraceptives.

It probably has alot to do with their religion. Religion tends to make people do alot of stupid things...But aside from that it can probably be a range of many things, they don't care, they like the feel of condoms or birth control pills, they have the thought that it can never EVER happen to them, and so on.

Because they're dumb. They don't think. Teenagers think they are invincible and that nothing bad will ever happen to them. They think, "I won't get pregnant or any STD's." Or they're just lazy and don't want to buy condoms or go get them for free.

It's against some people's religion. There are other ways to ensure that one doesn't get pregant such as the Billings Ovulation method.

because some people feel like that need to be loved so they think having a kid will take up that empty space they need for love but it only makes the situation more harder
