I was brought up as Christian, but now I can't stand going to church. I feel uncomfortable in the place and can't wait to get out. It holds no meaning for me- it is empty and the sermons are empty to me. I just can't help it, but I can't believe in it no matter how much I try.
Another thing, thre is this trend among the people I know to become a born-again evangelical christian, they all go to this new modern church and have formed a little 'clique'. I feel very uncomfortable in their company now like I don't belong and I feel shunned by them. Is it possible these people join this church just to find a place to fit in? Many of the so-called Christians don't behave in a very Christian way. I have found people who show off being christian to be prejudiced and excluding. I know there are nice Christians out there of course, but why is it I feel like this?
Don't bother answering if you are going to call me ye daughter of sin or give me pity or threaten me with hell. I need good answers.

It is times you should seek other faiths or spiritual practice if you like. If not, just relaxed and stay positive and happy without involving in any of the organisation. Find good and positive friends and enjoy life in a wise manner.

I feel the same. Born bred and buttered a Christian, but the church doesn't do it for me...so boring stuffy, although I like some of the tunes. I always have liked the Gospel Churches they seem to be having so much fun and the music and joining in, now they make going to Church seem like the joyous occasion it should be. If the 'born agains' are excluding you then they need to be born yet again and again until they realise what it is to be Christian. Remember the parable from the Bible that Jesus taught us, about the worshippers making a display of their prayers and worship in the temple for all to see and witness how religious they were. And then the prayers of the tax collector who sneaked in and prayed to God without fanfare as he was despised because of his job in the community. Jesus asked whose prayers had the most merit? I am always wary of those that wear their faith on their sleeve. Be secure in what you believe in and stick with it. Be like the tax collector when you go to Church. Go there when you want to and your time there will possibly become more meaningful to you as a consequence. Hope this hasnt been too preachy hehehe

I agree maybe u just have not found the right church. Feeling welcome is very important. Unfortunately all churches have people who talk the talk but do not walk the walk!! I hated going also but than found a place with the Spirit of God is alive!! Not boring or dreadful but joyful. There are times when I just can't wait to go. What is modern anyway? This is not a social club, Isn't it all about God? Not just another sermon. About teaching the Word of God from guess where The Bible, Wow what a concept, there need to be more churches teaching the "Word" and not the "world".

I understand how u feel
I think u need to change ur church

The reason why u feel like that
is because u do not like the church u attend

Do u live in London?
If u do
try hill song church
I do not attend that church
But i know it is more of a youth church

or try looking for a youth church

A lot of music
word
Drama
and other activities that u will like

You are being honest
and God will understand
also pray about how u feel
and that God should direct u too a church that u will feel at home with.

Do u have sky T.V?
if u do u can watch God channel etc
or try listening to premier radio

Please hold on to your faith

Why do you hate going to church? It could be the church. Maybe it really is empty and holds no relevance to your life. Have you visited the "new modern church" to see what all the fuss is about? Have you asked your friends why they are going there or why they seem to exclude you?

Why not spend some time alone simply talking to God? Ask Him to make Himself real to you. He promises that if you seek Him, out, He will be found. Explain to Him how you feel about the Christians around you, the church you've been attending, etc. He will show you what to do next.

Well, have you honestly sat down and thought about what you believed in? What do you take issue with about the Christian faith? What do you like? Write it all down and think about it. Know what your morals are and hold strong to those even if you can't believe in God.

I don't think joining the new modern Church just to fit in is a good idea. Then you'd become as fake as those people you're describing. Some people who call themselves Christians truly are not. Jesus was all about love and tolerance and if those people are being hateful then they're not very Christ like.

Hope that helps!

I don't think your faith is in question... but there is definitely a disconnect. The environment of a church has just as much to do with a persons spiritual capacity as the message itself. and when churches start to operate like social organizations, enabling counterproductive cliques, and veering away from the original mission, that's when it becomes a problem.

You may want to consider other avenues of spiritual nourishment. Since you're Christian, there are dozens of denominations that you can look into - or if you're brave, venture out a bit. What is important is that your relationship with God is sound.

It is true that many Christians act this way. I like to use the phrase "putting up a front." But you find a church where you can be spiritually fed. No church is perfect by any means, I don't care how big it is or how popular. The church is within you and you should be able to fellowship with other Christians in the same manner. Hang in there hun.

You sound like a very nice person, and I hope you will keep looking for a church home. It does seem like some people are going to church as a fad, and don't really practice the teachings of Christ in their lives. No one should make you feel like you are "out of the loop." So keep looking. You'll notice, your question brought lots of response. Athiests and Satanists love it when someone is unsure. I know you will have enough sense not to listen to them. You are seeking Christianity in earnest, and you are to be respected for that. Have you read "The Purpose Driven Life"? I mean, really read it? Also, sometimes, if I need a spiritual reminder, I rewatch 'Passion of the Christ'. I pray that God will guide your search, and bless you.

Well until your 18 you can't exactly make your own decisions so do what i do. Stay up and get very little sleep and i mean very little, then go to church with sunglasses and sit down and set an alarm on your cell or watch for about 50 minutes. Close your eyes and before you know it church should be over and you can just get up and get the hell out of there.

You could just be in the wrong church. I find in some churches I feel like they group off right away and its like highschool.
At the Baptist church I'm going to now I feel wonderful, like I'm being filled with positivity when I enter the building! Everybody is happy to see me. Everybody is great.

Unfortunately some churches are filled with people who you may not get along with, but there are many Churches to hear God's word in.
If you Pray to God for guidance, and help he may just show you where you need to be. Ask him to help you.

Truthfully I found church dull, boring and pointless untill I accepted Jesus into my heart. Once I did that the sermons became alive with meaning. The Bible became so much more than it was before, it was personal, and it was something I wanted to read daily.

You dont have to worry about those people who are prejudiced and judgemental. Jesus never taught them to be like that, and all Christians are not like that. Jesus loves you for who you are!♥♥♥
