I am getting married in September. We are having a traditional wedding and it is traditional that a bride give her groom a gift for the wedding. (tell me if I am wrong about this) He recently started in the realestate business and I gave him a PDA handheld for a combined birthday/graduation present. I can't really top that financially but I would like to give him something special that he will cherish and/or use. It is traditional for the groom to give his bride jewelry, but what should a bride give her groom? No wedding-night comments please.

We actually did discuss giving each other a small gift on our wedding day because his sister brought it up. (Her husband didn't give her anything and she was telling my fiance that he should get me something.) She's going to be a great sister-in-law.

I don't know what the tradition is, but when my sister got married, she gave her husband a painting. It wasn't by any one famous, but it was a painting of a place they had been together and really enjoyed. Maybe, rather than a painting, you could find a photo and have it enlarged. If this doesn't sound like something he would like, then think of something simple. Don't worry about tradition, just get something he might like. Also, if you expect a gift from him, make sure he knows that. My sister didn't get anything from her husband because he had never heard of buying gifts for each other on the wedding day. She wasn't upset, but you might be if he doesn't know you are expecting something. :)

Hi there. I gave my groom (who is in to wine) a bottle to open on our first, fifth, tenth and twentieth wedding anniversary. It makes a lovely reminder of the day, and it's something we can look forward to. It's consumable, but it's not something that can go out of style, or be replaced by new technology, or be used up instantly. It depends if your groom is into wine or not, but you can use that whole "anniversary" theme and present him with letters to be opened on those dates, or a port to be put down until 20 years from then. It's quite a small investment when you consider how much it appreciates over time.

Anyway, hope this sparked the imagination!

A watch. A really good quality watch. Have your wedding date engraved on the back of it. Or a meaningful quote to both of you. Try to find a watch that won't go out of style...maybe something classic. He'll use it every day. It's not over the top expensive.

To make it easy, I know of about 5 things he really wants off our registry (he registered for tons of guy stuff at sears), and if nobody has purchased one of those items by about 2 weeks prior to the big day, I am just going to pick that up. That way I know he will like it! Hopefully it’s something like a hammer, he's a tool guy, and I am going to get it engraved.

His ring. If you insist on something in addition to his ring, perhaps a fine watch or other engravable keepsake.

I gave my husband a goregous custom designed band, not the plain old gold. He will have it forever.

Giving a gift that will wear out is sad in the end. Think forever.

What I did for my hubby for his present was; he is a police officer and i had his cake look like a badge...

where it says what rank he is supposed to be, i put our last name; for the badge number, i did our wedding date; for city and state, our names... it turned o ut soo cute.. but think of something like that..

you can always do a sold sign and write you names on there.. do a realestate sign write a fictious name and number and then see if you can put sold, b/c he will be sold to you.. :_) good luck.. congrats too!!!

Have some fun and give him a "get out of trouble ONCE" coupon, or "an evening fit for a king" coupon- something he can 'redeem' at a later date and will put a loving smile on his face.

Sice he just started in real estate maybe a sterling silver money clip or tie pin would work best.

Good Luck!
