Depends on what the sub is best suited for.

Ported, if it's not constructed properly.

http://spkrbox1.spaces.msn.com/ for real "sound" advice.

Your system won't mean squat without a well designed box to put your subs in. Some manufacturers have recommendations as to dimensions of various types of boxes. It is best to find someone who builds boxes if you go with something other than a sealed box.

A sub is more likely to blow in a ported box. However if there are two or more subs in a box then the subs are more likely to blow in a non ported box since both subs will be fighting one another in an open box. I would probably reccomend a ported box if you have the room available (since it takes up considerably more space). , you will be happier with the sound quality and performance. If you go with more then one sub in a non ported boxyou might have to be careful with your amp settings (keep this in mind) :) GOOD LUCK

I would think a ported because air has the tendency to expand and contract more.

However, I have blown a 15inch in a sealed bandpass box.

It depends on the volume you play and the kind of sub you have.
