Who cares. As long as they keep killing each other, I'm happy.

First of all I must say everyone who previously answered this question is completely wrong. It will also depend on whether you ask a Palestinian or a Jew this question. I'm either. I'm an Italian Catholic. The reason is the Jews feel that they have a right to the holy land. The Jews took over Palestine (many years ago) and put up settlemnets all over the Palestinians land. Israel is backed by the United States, so the United States also sent Jews over there to live. This all somehow comes back to making money. The Jews had no other place to settle or go. The Israeli goverment has completely tried to take over everything. Palestinians can not move about freely or become citizens. Even if they were born there and have lived there all their lives. The Israeli army makes it impossible for Palestinians to live at all. That is why many Palestinians migrated to Lebanon or Jordan. The violence comes from many of the Palestinians who have been made to move from their land, give up their freedom, and sacrafice everything they have. So that is the basis for the conflict. It's a lot more in depth but the basic reason is the Jews took the land away from the Palestinians with the help of the United States. This all happened a very long time ago and have been in conflict since. It has little to do with Religion. The Israeli government treats the Palestinians with no respect and make life unbearable for them. Example: A Palestinian who lives in the West Bank but has family in Gaza is not permittied to go there. Israeli soilders have constant checkpoints all around to not allow Palestinans free travel in their own country. Sometimes these checkpoints can last up to hours upon hours. I have friends who were born in Palestine yet when they visit they are held up at the airport for five hours for questioning, but if you are Jewsih they let you through no problem. There has been much violence from both sides.

You have to go back to Abram, the father of Ishmael by Sarai's handmade, Hagar. He was the father of the Arabs, the Jews' half brother. When Isaac was born, God changed Abram's name to Abraham, because he would be the father of a great nation, Israel and Sarai to Sarah. Sarah became jealous of Hagar and Ishmael and made Abram force them to leave. God felt Hagar's anger and sadness and promised her that Ishmael would also father a many. The half brothers have been fighting ever since. It is prophecy and tells of the coming Kingdom of New Jerusalem.

The land of Cannaan they are fighting over, is land promised to Abraham through a covenent with God.
There is no such thing as a Palestinian...Palestine was a name given to the land of Israel by the Herodians, during Roman rule in an attempt to deny Israel's right and name to the land. The Jews were in the land more than 4,000 years before Christ. The "Palestinians" didn't show up until after 70 AD.
"Palestinians" are transplanted Arabs. Just as Araphat was a transplanted Egyptian.

You want to see the document....Check out the Book of Genesis.

The insoluble problem is that both Arabs and Jews want to have exclusive sovereignty over the exact same piece of real estate. True peace will require compromise on that issue. The reason for the conflict is that most Arabs do not accept the existence of a Jewish state. Those Arab countries that do accept the existence of a Jewish state, such as Egypt and Jordan, are at peace with Israel. The Palestinians will also have peace with Israel, and a state of their own in the West Bank and Gaza, when they accept the existence of Israel.

Israel (Jews) and the Palestinians (Philistines) have always been at war with one another. They always will be. The Palestinians are an EVIL people. They have taken land away from Israel. God will not allow complete peace in Israel until Christ returns b/c they have rejected the Messiah. However, He will NEVER turn his back completely on Israel b/c they are His chosen ones by grace. There will always be a remnant. So, you can count on Israel being the ultimate victor. Go Israel - God's promised land...I pray for peace and for God's mighty arm to guide Israel in this current conflict.

Well, see, in 1947, a whole chunk of land that already had people living on it (Palestine) was officially made into Israel and handed over to Jewish folks. One reason for this was that the US and Europe were pretty anti-Jewish at the time and didn't want to take in all the refugees left over after the nazis were beaten, and since the US and Europe didn't give two beans about the Arabic people (of various religions) already living there, they just took the land and handed it over to the Jewish refugees. So the Palestinians are still fighting to get their land back, while the Israelis are killing as many Palestinians as they can get their hands on. Neither side is blameless, but Israel is doing most of the killing, maiming, imprisoning, and land grabbing.

The whole "god gave it to them" thing is just silly. Can I walk into a WalMart and announce that god said it belongs to me?

I'll try to keep this a short explanation. Ishmael, Abraham's illegitimate son, is the father of all Arabs (including Palestinians). When he was exiled, God let him to Palestine. While Israel was still in exile in Egypt, the Palestinians continued to inhabit the land that Israel now owns. When Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised Land, it included Palestine. They took it and have been fighting ever since. So there's the Palestinian side.

Here's the kicker: Not only was Israel given the land, each Israelite was given a parcel of land by God when they settled. That plot of land is so important to them that God made provisions in the Mosaic Code to allow them to keep it at any cost. Here's the deal: if a man's brother dies and his brother has a son, the man is to adopt his sister-in-law and nephew (and the rest of their family) and raise them as a son. When the son comes of age, he returns to the parcel that God gave to his family and it remains his. In the event that the man's brother did not have a son, he was to have sex with his sister-in-law until she had a son. But it was not considered his son - it was considered his nephew (his brother's son). That way the son could take possession of the land when he came of age.

So you can see why the actual land is so important to both.

The solutions for this conflict are complex -- but the reason for it starting is actually very simple:

There are people in that part of the world who want Israel wiped off the map.

Shortly after its formation in 1948, and then again in 1967, certain Arab Muslims tried to put Israel out of existence.

This was before any Israeli ever ventured one inch into any territory claimed by Palestinians.

So, contrary to the ludicrous idea that "Zionist expansion" and "Israeli aggression" are causing this conflict, the simple reality is that Israel's Arab neighbors don't want peace with Israel. They want Israel dead and gone.

Starting from biblical times, Israelites and Palestines have been at each others throats. They hate each other because of land, intolerance, and many other factors that cause people to hate. In addition, both sides believe that whatever goes wrong is because of the other. Because of this belief, their fights are justified for they are destroying an old enemy and I doubt there will be a day when these people drop their weapons and forgive each other as their religions teach.

it is territory. Like my sister's cat, who comes into my room and sprays the furnishings to declare it as hers, heavily aggravating my very own kitty. They get into fights approximately as quickly as each 2 days, because of the fact one among them is going too a techniques into the different's area. and of direction, they had the two be plenty happier if the different one have been only long previous altogether. Israel and Palestine want the comparable floor, and function been struggling with one yet another for hundreds of years to get it. sure, i understand Israel is a those days re-well-known united states of america, yet we are speaking approximately background that is going back 1000's of years. Ancestors of the popular-day Palestinians and ancestors of the popular-day Israelis squabbled over the comparable earth they are nonetheless struggling with over immediately. Plus some different historic cultures besides. i think of it is only about developed to the component of genetic memory, now.
