I read an article in the New York Post that was written by a Syrian (I believe) man, who was disgusted with Hezbolla, Al-Qaeda, and the rest. He claimed that the majority of his breathren felt this way. If this is true, there is hope for this world yet.

It's always the extremist minority that ruin it for everyone else, regardless if its religion, vegetarians or non-smokers.

They need to speak up then. TO say they are the silent majority, especially living in America, they need to drop the act and speak out. I have only seen a couple who have actually spoken against what is happening. When the rest remain quiet, it leads the rest of us to believe that they are supporting the actions of these Muslim Extremists... They can't get too upset at us for believing what is on TV when they are the one's being quiet about it.

Nope - no evidence of anything but a small minority. As for hindering progress, it's really all about your definition of progress. The majority seem to believe that progress is defined as the growth of Islam and death of everything else, at any cost.
