I've searched my Bible, and darned if I can find anywhere in it where the Lord says "make fun of atheists on the internet."
Please do not judge Christianity by this warped soul. I would never condemn Muslems by the acts of terrorism by it's twisted factions. You can't hate all Germans because of World War II. And you can't take shots at atheists either.
As a Christian, I do not claim to be morally superior to anyone...as a matter of fact, I fully admit that I have shortcomings. I have a temper. I don't give as much to charity as I should. I can be selfish. I struggle with gluttony. I can be lazy. I pray about them and work to overcome them...but I am a sinner.
I sure do understand your frustration...I feel it myself. It really ticks me off that whoever that sicko is would hide behind my God to degrade people who don't belive the same way that she does. (Oops...there's that temper of mine...)
But guess what...the Bible says that God wants me to love you. And even if you don't believe what I do...I love you. And if you hate me for being a Christian...I'm gonna love you somemore. If you were here right now, I would give you a cookie and we could listen to some music or watch cartoons....(yes cartoons...I'm 41 years old and love me some Nicktoons!!)
You can dislike me because I laugh like a strangling hyena. You can hate me because I cut you off in traffic. You can be disgusted because my hiney is too big and jiggles like jello. But don't hate all Christians because of me.

If I were certain that question poser was a Christian, then I'd confront her as an older brother in Christ. It gives Christ a bad name when people post questions like that.
Notice, however, she didn't claim to be a Christian. Do you think she may have been an atheist posing as a theist to provoke the anger of atheists and the shame of theists? Either way, that person really is immature. What she posted was wrong and unhelpful to the Christian cause.
P.S. Christians claim to be loving, but "tolerant" has taken on a highly politicized meaning that doesn't always fit with the Christian agenda for world evangelization.

News flash- Christians are human. They make mistakes, tell jokes that aren't always funny, and in general are just as capable as fouling up as the next guy.
While some Christians claim moral superiority, I personally try to not come across that way. I try to live by the standards I was taught, but when it comes to judging others, there's always factors I don't know about, things I can't ever understand...
Actually, I have heard some atheists and agnostics who do claim moral superiority- they're good because they want to be, not out of fear of hell.
A question I'm contemplating... Why are atheists not able to take a joke? Maybe that asker should have specified that this question was meant in fun, not to offend. Oh, wait, she DID, see- :)
'Sides- ya gotta admit, some dogs are just down-right odd... Gotta love 'em!

Everybody whistle Dixie!
FIRST: It is an untested assumption that the person who put out the question you reference is a Christian.
SECOND: It is likewise an untested assumption that any of the people who answered that question are Christians. Maybe one.
I am new to Yahoo Answers. I have learned a few things and done my best to give working answers. Sometimes it is hard not to give harsh or stupid answers to stupid questions.
***CHALLENGE***
Having made the above statement I want to say that everyone on this response should go to http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?gid=2
and report the abuse that we see. I see five or six violations. I'll take the so-called Christians if somebody else will take the atheists.

Your premise is totally off. Christians, as a generalization, do not purport to be tolerant. In fact, most love the fact that they are not tolerant. I recently read a book entitled, "the end of faith," which forwards the hypothesis that tolerence in religion is very dangerous. Tolerant Christians are almost worse than the fanatical, insane ones, because on the one hand they want the benefits of a modern society (i.e. capitalist society, women's rights, minority rights, technology), and on the other hand they legitimate the beliefs of the fundamentalists by continuing to go to church and reading the drivel that is the bible.
We should all be intolerant of religion, because any paradigm that talks about an all intelligent being that lives in the clouds whose purpose it is to judge our lives, should probably be put in their place, the loony bin.

I didn't see any references to moral superiority. I definitely think it's a silly question, but atheists post silly questions, also. And, a lot of questions posted by atheists are for the sole purpose of putting down christianity, therefore insinuating that they are superior. So your logic, by way of stereo-typing, just doesn't work.
btw: I loved the video

Actually, anyone can claim to be a Christian. The Bible teaches that the proof is in the "fruit"--love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, gentleness, kindness, goodness, self-control. Maybe the writer wasn't what she claimed to be. Maybe the writer is a very immature Christian. God will sort it all out in the end. But I wouldn't put a person who acts in such a way in any position of leadership within the church because her fruit doesn't support her claim to be "a Christian."

mind superiority. they think they are better and look down upon those who do not believe in the same fairy tales they do. it's theiy way to "get even" with those who have a mind of their own and don't simply accept what they are told to be the truth. christians obey, atheists question. questioning leads to more questions but those truly in the know understand that not everything can be summed up into one book and remain relevant throughout the ages. ignorance is bliss.

Some Christians are ignorant just as some atheists are ignorant. There are several different denomination of Christianity so some don't value love and tolerance as much as others.

You talk about how "Christians" judge others and act superior but you are basing this argument on one person's very poor idea of a joke. She didn't claim to be christian, you assumed and "judged" that for yourself. So why make all these grandiose statements about how we are so judgmental when you've just proven the opposite.
