I'm like, are you kidding me, that is rude. He says it's because the women he has met are grossly overweight but tell him beforehand they are hot & in good shape.

I love how women feel that is is appropriate to reject a man for the slightest physical flaw, but God forbid a man tries to make sure he won't be dating a whale. I'm glad I'm into dudes.

While many guys might be interested in that information out of sheer physical-attraction motivation, other guys may prefer to date someone who has the discipline and the self-respect to take care of herself and her body.

My fiancee, who's 11 years younger than me, really likes the fact that I am in very good physical shape at age 41.

He likes the fact that I go to a gym 4 times a week, that I run or rollerblade several miles almost every morning, and play basketball with people (sometimes guys) who are at least 10 or 15 years younger than me.

He also likes the fact that, 99.9% of the time anyway, I stick to very healthy eating habits.

This does not mean that people who don't partake of such a lifestyle are bad people or anything -- but let's face it, not many people want to be with someone who makes little or no effort to take care of themselves. And, frankly, I don't blame them.

If he first asked for a picture of you and you don't have one, then you got into a conversation on how each of you looks and that came out as a part of that conversation, no it isn't rude. Also if he has seen a picture of you then it isn't too rude (again if asked in the proper context).
It is rude if that was the first thing he said to you.

Well, in a way it's okay. In real life he will ignore overweight women.

He has no way of knowing who is fat unless he asks.

Why should he waste his time with someone he will not like when he sees them.

Those questions come with the territory - dating sites are like a salad bars. You choose the items you want!

Yes its rude...and shows he is more about looks than anything else. Although he is being honest by telling you this, its still in very poor taste. This is a very shallow man and not worth the time it took to ask the question. Really.....keep looking you can do better.

'People do lie on dating sites. I don't blame him for asking although it is uncomfortable....for both. It is best to know these things up front.

Personal experience I got to the point that I asked of they had all of their teeth, were height/weight proportionate, were clean (I actually had someone show up with dirty hands) and had no disabilities. I did not want to waste my time or anyone elses. Sounds selfish yes it is..I am married today to the man of my dreams so it works.

I'm not sure if it's really rude in the context of the conversation...however, it gives a clear insight into his personality and his priorities. If you are looking for a gentleman who cares more for how you look than who you are, I would say this is the guy for you.

how is that rude, the guy has not seen you and it is a dating site not a friendship site. Would you rather have him, stood you up after looking at you through a restaurant window where you guys decide to meet

That isn't rude, you're on the computer, what do you expect? Now if y'all were face to face then that would be something different, but you're not. You could be and 88 year old gay Asian for all he knows. Don't be offended by sensible questions.
