Why would you want to read that ? I once tried to read it and I just couldn't continue after the first page. I also didn't want my mind to become infested with a bunch on senseless lies.

If you didn't continue after the first page, how do you know it's boring? And how do you know that it's full of "senseless lies"?

That's sort of like critiquing a movie that you have not seen, or offering travel advice on a country that you've never been to.

Read the whole Bible, and not just the first page, and maybe then you will be qualified to opine that it's boring and full of senseless lies.

Until then, though, recognize the fact that you're only making yourself look foolish by jumping to such conclusions about a book that you admit you've never read.

I read through the Bible 3 times a year. It's as fresh and exciting as it was the first time. The only areas that are what you might consider boring are, parts of the Book of Numbers, and the first few chapters of I Chronicles.

The problem you might be having is the translation you used. Another thing is to ask God to open your eyes to the truth in His Word.

The writer to the Hebrews makes it clear: "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, as it judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)

And as far as infesting your mind with a bunch of lies, that has already occurred. Society tells us that we're to "look out for number one!" But that's a lie. Hardly anyone has a sense of community anymore.

A recent study showed that fewer people today have close friends. That was not the case even 20 years ago. But because people have bought the lie that it's all about them, no one cares about others.

its not a bunch of senseless lies but i see where ur coming from.the Bible, no matter what version it is in, is written old-fashion.u do not necessarily have to read the Bible first thing 2 become a Christian.i know sitting down and reading the Bible word for word ca be very boring. use a Bible study or something.

or,my pastor, Jim White, is very modern in the way he preaches. or, not really preaches, just teaches. i know ur thinking 'oh, like im going all the way to charlotte,nc to go to to church. but now, hes becoming the head of the national Christian society or something like that. anyway, he'll be a a huge influence on other ''teachers.'' just try to believe. talk to a Christian u know. the'll help.

praying 4 u.

ps plz dont think all Christians are clueless freaks only some of them are.

I once tried to read the bible from the beginning to the end, but when I got to the book of Numbers I gave up b/c there was a LONG list of names to bombard me. Solution: Don't read the bible as if it's suppose to be a novel. Start with the New Testament first (maybe in the new international version with updated english) and get to know Jesus, his life, his friends, and the drama he went thru. Then, go on to the old testament to see why Jesus had to come and how he fulfills the prophecies written about him. Have fun.

Some times the old English is a bit boring, I suppose to the unbeliever. But to me as a Christian, I think of it as a Celestial Code the New testament written in Ancient Greek then translated into other Ancient languages Latin, English & German, is a chalange to me only with Holy Spirit Guidiance will you understand it. It is a Spiritual Celestial Book that began in the Celestials and will end there. And I am always Excited when My Heavenly or Celestial Father shows me something new., You will never read a more exciting Book if you realize it is Alien to this World. And no one of this World can teach it to you.

Since you are not of the Christian Faith why would you want to... The Bible is not ment to be read like a novel.. or even a text book..Its contents are for those of The Faith as a guide to greater understanding of God's Word for them...It can be used as a guid by the Faqithful to help honest seekers.. but it is only with a heart open to the leading of the Holy Spirit athat any true understanding of The Bible will come to anyone.

It used to be for me too. Then I got serious with God, confessed my sins and got "born again" (John 3). Since then, the Bible has become God's word to me, with fresh application and meaning every time I read it. If read simply as a history book, it's dead; but, if energized by the Holy Spirit, it becomes a living word. To understand the Bible, a person needs to be looking for God's revelation in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ. Someone said that the Old Testament is Jesus concealed, and the New Testament is Jesus revealed.

The Bible is the very words of a holy God to us. If you read it desiring to know and understand God, He will reveal Himself to you. It will be "living and active." I read it in context of the personal relationship I have with Jesus Christ. Each time I read it, I learn something new.

If you are (or were ever) serious about trying to read the Bible, I wouldn't suggest starting with page 1. I would suggest reading the book of John and as you read, asking yourself these questions: What is Jesus claiming about Himself? And what is He asking us to do?

Once you have the answers to those questions you can make an intelligent decision about what to do next.

Well, you probably found it boring since you believe its full of senseless lies. I have read the Bible from cover to cover and though I admit I skipped over a lot of the lists/building instructions, I found it interesting just due to my spiritual beliefs.

It can be quite interesting. It's actually the best selling fiction novel in the world. I can't get past all of the double standards and ways it contradicts itself. Now I just use it's contradictions and hypocrisy to piss off the Christians when they try to throw scripture at me. I love when they tell me to read the bible and quote some verses, I just throw a bunch of passages back at them contradicting what they quoted.

Here is how I have fun with it...

Hey Bart S you can't prove it's the truth. Until you get some evidence and proof to back yourself up it's still just fiction.
