My son was born at 34 wks and weighed 5 pounds. He had no sucking reflex , apnea , bradycardia , had 2 brain bleeds , several strokes and has hydrocephalus and a seizure disorder. He is now 5 .. has had no seizures in 2 years , looks , speaks, walks/moves normally. Right on target with other kids in his preschool but his behavior is aweful 90% of the time. He has frontal lobe damage and it causes problems with impulse control

My identical twin daughters were 10.5 weeks early and weighed 2lb 7oz and 2 lb 3oz. They spent 9 weeks in the NICU. The smaller one had a surgery when she was 22 hours old and another at 7.5 months. They are now 4.5 years old and taller than a lot of the kindergartners in my sons class. They are now(according to their doctors) ex-preemies. We have been very fortunate, they do not appear to have any residual problems from being born so early.

My son was 3 weeks early, not really early i suppose, but when he was born i guess he wasnt ready to be in the world yet, and he was in the hospital for 26 days, cus he didnt want to eat, and he had a hard time keeping his body temp up and his oxygen levels normal. Right now he is probally about a month behind other *typical* 8 and a half month old babies. His doctors say he will be about a year behind when he gets older but its nothing to really worry about, i mean in your daughters case she is only a little bit behind, but im sure she isnt like 2 years or so. You also got to remember that every child is differnt and they will grow and learn at their own pace. Hope all goes well :-)

my little boy was 1lb 3oz and was born at exactly 24 weeks. He is nine months old now and we just got him home from the hospital for the first time on Wednesday.
He has a stoma and a tracheostomy and is oxygen dependant. But he is as bright as a button and never stops smiling.

Our girl was born 4lb. 10oz. at 33 wks. She is 4 now. She is the tallest in her class. Mentally she is very smart, but physically she still has trouble with her movements and such.
