It hurts to swallow food even water! I took prilosec but i have been taking it for 2 weeks,,,,and it was ok for about a week now its back. Its to the point i cant even eat a grain of rice without hurting? What could it be? Single mom not alot of money to go to the docs. But its starting to scare me at this point. Anyone ever had this problem??

If you think it may be the prilosec, stop taking it!
Go see a doctor about taking a different reflux medication & your throat.

Sounds like you have a bad throat infection.
Strep throat?
Try gargling with warm salt water to help soothe it. Also, taking Advil should take the edge off the pain.
But if you've had it for more than 2 weeks, you really do need to see a doctor. You might need antibiotics or something, when something goes on 2 weeks or more that's not good.

Could be anything - bacterial infection, viral, some kind of injury etc etc. My guess would be strep throat.
Check with a pharmacist - they may have over the counter med for this, and they are often knowledeable about possible causes.
If it doesn't go away soon (one more week) though, seriously consider going to a doc.

You may have strep throat or many other infections... there are free clinics where you live and also a county/city health department that will treat you for free or close to free. Look up the number on the internet and call them for an appointment.

Could be throat infection (like strep) or damage from heartburn (since you are on prilocec).
You really do need to see a doctor. It is easy to get dehydrated if you are having trouble eating and drinking.

It's not going to get better. Go. Go now. You can afford a minor emergency clinic. No one can diagnose this on this message board.

you may have strep throat or something. if it has been 2 weeks i would say you have to go back to the doctor. i know how you feel. every month my troat gets like that and i try to stick it out and it won't clear up so i usually have to break down and go to the doctor. hopefully you get better though and you won't have to go.
